Born out of a small machine shop in Washington State, Yakima's founders turned the shop, and the company, into something a bit more ambitious. 1979 saw them move operations south to Arcata, California, with the purpose of helping their customers better use their cars to pile in more friends, while cumbersome gear is loaded on top. Since then, Yakima has hit a number of exciting milestones while becoming the industry leader they are today, consistently innovating and building fortuitous partnerships with countless brands and organizations.
