Sometimes you get to the end of a hike and an idea just clicks. That’s the story for Kalen and Derrick Emsley who founded their company on the idea of wanting to give back to Mother Nature. The Canadian born company made the decision to plant ten trees for every product sold thus resulting in the name. Not only do they focus on the quality of their products but also on the materials they are made of. Everything Tentree produces is made up of sustainable material from recycled polyester all the way down to the coconut buttons. That’s right, Tentree uses a natural by-product from coconut shells in place of plastic buttons to create a more sustainable product. How neat is that? Better yet, they not only want to hang out with Mother Nature but they want to help her grow as well. As of now, their goal is to plant one billion trees by 2030. Mostly in Madagascar, these trees are protecting habitats and absorbing CO2 to create a livable environment for many of the native animals. Planting ten trees also provide the people of Madagascar employment, sustainable wood to build with and soil fertilization for fruit trees that provide food.
