About Hiking and Backpacking Footwear:

I just got back from an almost successful search for sasquatch. The only reason I say almost successful is because I was unable to bring back definitive proof, but I definitely saw a squatch out in the woods. I owe my success in tracking the missing link to the fact that my hiking footwear was as adapted to trekking in the forest as bigfoot’s big feet.

Hiking footwear means more than just boots. Hiking shoes are lighter and better suited for making quick bursts of speed that can keep you on the trail of a marauding man-ape. Hybridization of hiking boots and trail shoes is like the hybriding of man and beast that makes a sasquatch - you get the best of both worlds.

Great gear becomes an extension of yourself, and it’s easier to become one with your inner hiker when you start with awesome socks. A good sock, either synthetic or wool, is comfortable and quick drying so your feet can be spared from the bummer that is blisters. Merino wool is magnificent for socks, it will probably be the best material available until I finally capture bigfoot and use his wool to make the rarest socks on the planet before releasing him into the wild again.
