Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice construction and features I needed a new deep winter jacket and did some research and comparison shopping. The Woolrich met all of the criteria and when I tried it on it just felt right. I bought it late in the season in the hopes that once it was in my closet the winter spirits would give up and cede the season to spring. Vain hope. There's been a few cold spells and I've had an opportunity to wear it multiple times on my commute along Lake Michigan's shore early in the morning. First, it's very comfy. True, I've only tested it to about 15 degrees f, but it seems like it will perform well sub zero. In the car I unzip the bottom a few inches for a nice balance of leg freedom and warmth - especially for those first few miles before the car warms up. In the walk from the parking garage I usually have a pair of driving gloves that, when my hands are tucked into the side pockets, give a good balance of warmth and hand freedom. I keep a heavier pair of gloves in the pouch pockets and use them when I need to use my hands more. The combination works well. The hood is especially warm and blocks the wind nicely. All of the pockets are useful - I might have liked the zipped chest pocket on the outside of the coat zipper for access without having to open the coat, but I can stash my phone in the upper slash pockets. I can carry quite a bit of stuff in the lower inside pockets. The cuffs keep out the cold. The collar works well, but is best with the hood up, otherwise I zip up to about three inches from the top. Overall I'm very happy with the jacket and recommend it to others who like a good design and superior craftsmanship and materials

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fits a little funny Im 6' 180 lbs and usually buy M size jackets. The M was simply gigantic so I got a small. The small seemed to fit quite well at first. Arm length and shoulder width was perfect. However it was still too roomy in the body in the end. The jacket looks kind of funny being wider at the hips then at the chest, and I just thought I looked kind of odd in it. The jacket is also very stiff and the hood is very stiff. The hood is also too tall and looks funny as well when worn. I wore this jacket in 15F with only a shirt underneath and I was starting to get cold after 10 minutes or so. Probably would have been fine if I layered, also would have helped with fit a bit. Caveat to this review is I like slim fitting clothes, and this jacket just isnt that. If you want a "regular" or relaxed fit this jacket may be perfect for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great parka I purchased my Parka and it looks better in person than the picture. I love the great quality. The fit is true. I'm 5'7" and I usually go Lg. But I decided to try a medium and it's a perfect fit with plenty of room to layer if necessary.....I definitely recommend this product!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stylish around town parka I bought this parka for wearing around town or walking the dog in extreme cold weather. The construction quality is excellent and it has several great features that are not commonly available in other parkas. It is not without flaws though. Here is a breakdown. Pros: - Both waist and hem draw cords, and in the hood. - Lots of pockets, inside and out. - Really high quality construction. - Attached hood, and real coyote fur ruff is nice - Elastic cuffs keep out drafts - Durable fabric, somewhat waterproof Cons: - It's heavy, but for around town, who cares? - No hand warmer pockets. The slash pockets are uninsulated like the rest. - No draft baffle behind the zipper, just a flap. - **The sleeves are 1) too tight, and 2) very light on insulation. This is probably the worst part. I don't have big forearms, but I can't even layer a light sweater under this size medium parka--and because the sleeves have almost no insulation, there are cold spots on top of the arms by the elbow. (Fit in body is fine, just the sleeves are tight.) Will it keep you warm? Probably. I've been out at 15F degrees a couple times now and once at 4F degrees, and stayed warm--except for in the sleeves. For this kind of money, it should be cozy to at least -10F. Instead of a great parka, what Woolrich is selling is just pretty good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Warm, Winning Jacket with Tons of Great Features This is absolutely the best winter jacket I've ever owned! I'm 5'7", and the small fits me perfectly from the length of the body to the length of the sleeves and the size of the hood. It has kept me very warm so far this winter in Boston where it's been as low as 20F. Walking around, I feel like I'm in a cocoon of warmth and well protected from the elements. I look forward to wearing it ALL winter.,,,,What the photos and description don't completely show are the pockets. There are 9 pockets in all. On the outside are: 2 chest pockets with merino lining, the 2 flap pockets, and 2 side pockets with zippers behind the 2 flap pockets. On the inside are: 1 very large patch pocket perfect for gloves and a hat, 1 mesh pocket with zipper by the chest, and 1 larger mesh pocket with a button closure. Then there is a drawcord around the waist around and another drawcord at the bottom of the jacket.,,,,I've gotten a lot of compliments for this jacket, and I recommend it to all my friends!,,,,

Where is it made? Does the fur zip off? Does Velcro close the pockets?

Asked by: sam29
The Woolrich Men's Patrol Down Parka is made in China. The authentic Coyote Fur Liner on the hood is permanent and cannot be removed. The pockets are secured with snaps.
