Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Perfect Everyday Carry Bag This bag ended my year long search of finding the perfect every day carry bag. Although its not 100% perfect (face it, we'll never find that 100% perfect bag), I think its the best bag for me. I love this bag! My favorite features are the top loading, spacious laptop comparment, which holds my 15" MacBook Pro and my 12.9" iPad Pro with ease, and the front organizing panel that opens allllll the way down the bag, but has neoprene guardrails to stop things from falling out. This front organizer compartment also features four large pockets and a secret zipper pocket which is nicer than other timbuk2 bags I have which feature useless business card slots, and other smaller / thin and useless pockets. I also love that there is a secret pocket on the front to store valuable or fragile items, and that there is a document organizer in the main compartment of the bag. The materials of this bag feel wonderful and often catch myself just feeling all of the different high quality materials. Oh! And the grab handle is super cooshy which I also love. This bag also generally feels lighter to carry. I carry all of the same things from my previous bag, yet this bag distributes the load a lot better to make the weight feel a lot lighter. I am thoroughly impressed at how light it feels with all my gear in it. A couple things that are downers (although not really anything to worry about): The waterbottle pocket on the side is very tight. I can fit my bottle in no problem, however, they advertise that you could put a ulock in this pocket as well, which I was not able to do. I would have ripped the materials if I tried. With that said, I have a taller waterbottle, and the fact that the materials are tight keep my bottle secure no matter what! The other thing that made me sad was that the bottom straps to attach extraneous items like a yoga mat or umbrella are a lot shorter than I expected. I do have a thick yoga mat, but the straps were not able to snap in around my yoga mat. I'm sure any other regular sized yoga mat would fit just fine though My umbrella is small, so it would just fall out if I tried to snap it in here as well. So I don’t have a real use for these straps, but I could see how tying down an extraneous hoodie after it got hot out or something would be beneficial. They do add a cool look too! The other thing I wish this bag had was more attachment points to clip things on. I think if they just added one somewhere higher up on the bag that would have been nice. Well, okay there is one at the bottom of the bag for a bike light, but thats too low for most objects. I would like a better place to attach extraneous items like my headphones case, hammocks, shoes, etc. Maybe the bottom straps were supposed to help with this, but still, these are too low and you have to have the right sized object to fit with those straps. I know they were trying to keep a clean look, but I will probably sew on my own attachement point somewhere eventually. And my last gripe is that this bag does not stand up on its own when setting it down. I couldn’t get it to stand up on its own when it was 110% packed up either. However that is a feature that is hard to come by, so I will just have to live with it. With all that said, I friggin love this bag and I can see myself using it for many, many years to come! Welp, see ya later!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and Comfy This backpack is simply amazing. I love it so much. When I first got it in the mail, I was skeptical it would hold all of my stuff, but this thing can really hold a lot while still looking slim! the straps and back are very comfortable and seemingly magically distribute the weight across your back so that your shoulders don't hurt even with a heavy load! It also looks very stylist, and the pockets make for great organization without things getting too intricate on the inside. Just wish the water bottle compartment was stretchier or larger, because 32oz or larger bottles with wider diameters will not fit. Luckily, the backpack is so roomy, you can easily put large water bottles inside the pack without a problem!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the modern workplace Our company has gone to a completely open office without assigned desks. I needed to carry my laptop, cords, mouse, notepads, a few files plus pens, etc. This backpack has been perfect fort that and looks really good doing it. Multiple people has asked me about it. I have been using it now for about 6 weeks and it still looks and feels brand new

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect commuter backpack I bought this as an upgrade from my previous Timbuk2 backpack. I commute by train from the Chicago suburbs to the Loop every day and carry my laptop, a few personal items, a ton of beverages, and sometimes lunch or other incidentals. Timbuk2 packs are well organized and deter me from turning my work backpack into another disorganized mess like all of my purses, while still having enough room to carry everything I need on a daily basis. This pack is lightweight and comfortable. As always, thank you for another well-constructed bag; I'm a lifetime customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Husband LOVED it I bought this for my husband as an anniversary gift. He has to bring his laptop home for work a lot and has been complaining about the backpack he had. He really loved how it sat on his back (doesn't pull down on his shoulders), and the said he liked how the color looked professional without being all black. It also has quite a few pockets which is nice but doesn't look bulky. The backpack looked very sturdy but only time will tell - he has had it less than a month but so far I don't see this being an issue. Very pleased with this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag to replace my last Timbuk2 pack This is my second Timbuk2 bag (the first finally wore out after 6 years of aggressive use). It functions as a combo laptop/gym/lunch/do everything bag that I take to work every day. I like the professional lines, sturdiness, and lightweight. It's easy to bike with or throw in the car. I told the rep at Whole Earth Provision that I needed a backpack that my CFO wouldn't make fun of, and this fits the bill. Packing stuff in is a little tight due to smaller volume, but I prefer that over unnecessary space. Cons: the water bottle carrier on the side serves no purpose, given its thin dimensions. Also not a fan of the under straps--I guess I'm supposed to roll up a yoga mat or something in there, but that's not for me. Overall: great bag, looks good, seems sturdy, and I imagine I'll use it for a long time. Would buy again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks okay, I wish it was more functional for work/travel This was a replacement backpack for a business professional. I have used the Authority for about 60 days now. The style is okay, but the pockets are thin and narrow, and really geared towards laptops and papers, not bulkier objects like snacks or gym clothes. It appears that someone decided the bag would look like a clean rectangle shape, and then compromised all the features to retain that aesthetic. While this bag is the same volume as my last backpack, the pocket shape limits is value for everyday use and as a travel carry-on. I really miss some features of my old bag, like a second exterior bottle holder (I used one for water, the other for a coffee thermos), and the convenient mesh pouch on the front for fragile items like a banana or a bag of chips. The cinch straps on the bottom of the Authority are impractical for extra carrying capacity. The straps are on the bottom so anything you put there (like a rolled-up coat, which won't fit in the thin pockets) gets dirty as soon as you set the bag down. If Timbuktu had a satisfaction guarantee; I'd be walking this back up to their store a block away. Since not, I still grab my old bag when I really need function and versatility.
