Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Bag But Needs More Interior Pockets I really like this bag and it's very convenient, but it does have some quirks. This bag is great for commuting and shopping trips. I wish the tote straps were a little longer because if you have a lot of stuff in the bag it's hard to get your arm through the straps. It would also be nice if the tote and backpack straps could tuck away when you don't want to use them. The one thing this bag sorely misses is more interior pockets. The small pockets on the outside of the laptop compartment are not enough. It would be nice if there were a few pockets on the opposite side of the bag for odds and ends because it is easy for things to get lost in the large main compartment of this backpack. One thing I've been doing as a work around is using pouches or dopp bags to hold smaller odds and ends that I would be nervous having in the outside compartments of the bag. It would also be nice if there were a key strap and if the small hidden pocket by the laptop access zipper were slightly bigger. All in all, this is a good bag for shopping trips, or just commuting. This bag has pretty much replaced my messenger bag as my go to bag for when I want to take more stuff with me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 8 1/2 inch drop length on tote handles - too short I struggled between choosing 2 or 3 stars for this bag. At the end of the day it works as a backpack so I went with 3 stars. Grudgingly. It absolutely does not work well as a tote. The drop length on the tote straps on my bag is 8 1/2 inches. Compare that with the strap lengths you have on other totes you use before buying this one. Every other strap on this bag is adjustable. It's a bit mind-boggling that they didn't think to make the tote straps adjustable as well. I will use this bag as a backpack and keep my eye out for a better solution in the future. I wanted to love this bag but just can't. I also reached out to Timbuk2 customer service with questions and they never replied to me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from AMAZING everyday bag, a few design flaws I love this bag so much, and it has completely solved my issue of constantly switching back and forth between a tote/purse, a backpack, or some combination of multiple bags. It's extremely spacious and I love the extendable top flap (helpful for those grocery trips where you end up checking out with more than you intended, but still have to walk 10 city blocks home). It looks great with a variety of outfits, and so far (about 3 months into owning it) the quality is holding up great with daily use. The flaws: -the tote straps are just a tad too short, making it awkward to swing the bag onto your shoulder. -the backpack straps don't tuck away anywhere when you're carrying it as a tote, so they dangle strangely and get in the way sometimes -when wearing as a backpack with a good amount of stuff in the bag, the bag sits further away from your body than a normal backpack. It's a little less comfortable than other Timbuk2 backpacks in that regard, but to me the versatility outweighs the comfort issue. Overall, it's an awesome bag and I love using it every day. I hope Timbuk2 might fix some of these issues and make a new version!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from First disappointment from Timbuk2 This bag is such a disappointment. I was excited for the versatile options of wearing it as a backpack while I commute and a tote while at work, but there is something lost in its attempt to do both. As a backpack, it's ok I guess, though it doesn't hold a candle to my other backpacks from timbuk2. As a tote, it is just plain terrible. The straps are terribly uncomfortable and the exterior pockets hold next to nothing. The "secret pocket" doesn't even fit my cell phone let alone a wallet (as the one in my backpack does). I end up throwing everything in the side pockets, which don't close so when it's a backpack it just isn't safe to carry my things in them. The front main pocket is ok, but the little ones are so little and too deep, so that I can't even get my hand in them to get things out. Also, there isn't a very good way to carry it open, as a tote is generally used. I love timbuk2 bags and have owned several for more than a decade. This one is a severe disappointment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Totes no bueno I'm 5'9" and the straps are way too long for this pack to be used comfortably as a tote, which was the main reason I chose this pack. I always take my backpack off when I get on the subway. It'd be nice if the straps worked for me so I wouldn't have to set the pack on the floor. Because the straps are kinda cheap and thin, I ordered some new ones online for $10.00. My dry cleaner will swap out the straps for me for $10-$15.00 so it's about a $25.00 fix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Versatile Bag Nice bag and love the color. I like how it is versatile. I can use it as a tote or a back pack. It is great that I can put my coffee thermos in one outside pocket and my water bottle in the other. I do wish it had more pockets on the inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag with many uses Received this bag just in time for vacation - Used it as my hand carry on my trip to California - it was the perfect size for under the seat and it held all my necessities for my trip. Once on vacation, I used it as a beach bag/tote. And now that I'm back home, I'm not using it everyday for my classes - it's a good size for carrying the books and supplies I need and it even has a section for holding my laptop or tablet. I was very pleased with this bag, it even came in my favorite color - blue. The only thing I didn't like was that the tote straps were not adjustable, so it was a bit uncomfortable holding it as a tote bag. But I do like how you can carry it as a tote/shoulder bag or as a backpack. Would definitely recommend this to others to purchase. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
