Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart, stylish Outstanding bag. Comfortable - I love the moldable backpanel. Pockets are great, roll top and magnets are smart and effective. Durable fabric, sleek design. Perfect bag for long commutes and doubles as a gym bag. Highly recommend for urban, active types.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good! Tried the Clark and the Bruce and this won. I'm at 5'9 woman, who does a lot of short trips (3-9 days) and felt this pack was the perfect size for me and my needs. It's comfortable. Holds a lot but not so much that I can pack frivolous things. External pockets great, although a bit tight, I think due to the heavy weight material and overall sleek design (as opposed to a typical nylon type travel pack), so I couldnt fit a ton. Sunglasses, charger, lock, small paperback book, keys, etc. I've used it twice now and no regrets in purchasing. Would recommend to anyone who likes to travel/getaway, pack light, and appreciates aesthetics.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid - don't pay a premium price for inferior material! Nice idea, but the poor quality material used on the back panels is a fatal flaw. This backpack is starting to look old and worn after just a few months. It does not offer the promised "rugged protection". Someone else's review mentioned the material on the back pockets being sensitive. That is an understatement! The material scratches from paper towels. I was wiping my backpack after a spill, and ended up with light colored scratches and white dots. The coating is literally coming off from a wet paper towel! Rugged should at the minimum mean I can wipe this backpack with a paper towel without the material breaking down. This thing won't last long. It's hyper sensitive! I wouldn't have much room to complain if this backpack was $20, but it's over $200! I paid a premium price for premium quality, and I feel deceived as this item does not provide the promised "rugged performance". How am I supposed to know that Timbuk2 have chosen to use inferior materials? "coated Cordura Nylon" could mean coated and durable, or as I discovered, it could mean coated with a glaze that is just waiting to be scratched off. Very disappointing. I had such high hopes for this backpack, but one poor choice of material ruins it. I could do a more in depth review, but this is the only part that I wished I knew before buying - this backpack will not look good for long. Maybe it's intentional so I have to buy a new backpack every year, or maybe it's a poor design, or maybe poor execution of a good design. I really don't care, the end result is the same - this is an inferior product. My old Timbuk2 backpack is over 5 years old but it looks newer than my couple months old Clark backpack!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lifetime Backpack This backpack is sure to be with me for many years to come. I have had one other Timbuk2 pack for school for 3 years now and was looking for a change of pace. This is perfect for all of my school stuff, laptop, electronic devices AND a bulky sweater/change of clothes. Should be perfect for weekend trips as well due to the roll top compartment. The one maybe con is it doesn't have a lot of front compartment sections if you want to throw in a bunch of smaller items for quick access. Still works well for essentials for me though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall stellar bag with loads of space BUT sensitive fabric After having this bag for several months now I feel like I can truly testify for this bag. I've used this bag as a weekend camp trip bag, a ski day bag (a little large but it did the job), a hiking bag and a daily bag for school. When it first arrived it was much greener that I thought it to be. Its army green-gray hue is classy looking but does shows dirt and the center more waterproof fabric scratches much too easy for the quality that Timbuk2 promises. However, other than a few minor fabric details, the bag itself is very spacious and is great for days where you need 3 changes of clothes, laptop, lunch and probably 10 other things you don't actually need. Having the flexibility to expand the bag is amazing because it allows for a sleek look day to day and the extra space when needed. After dealing with bags with no outside water holder for 2 years, the side pockets are a blessing but I find one stretches more than the other and my 1L Nalgene barely fits. Anyone else fine that? Is it designed that way? The side access laptop pouch is one of my favorite features on this bag, if you are like me and bought into the 15 inch PC laptop you know the struggle of finding cases and bags that fit the width of your laptop. WELL this bag has you covered! The laptop compartment definitely was a big win for me. With a big laptop on your back you most certainly want good straps and Timbuk2 delivered..The size of the bag is no issue for me, (5'8", Women, slim). I am able to ride my bike, walk, hike, ski, etc. with this bag on. My only issue is not filling it with too much stuff so it weighs me down. The rain-fly that comes with the bag is an extra bonus and is great to have around if you have to sit on wet ground or in the snow. Overall this bag is great for day to day school/office/life but its also excellent for adventures outside of the city despite the sensitive fabrics on the front. p.s. The inside pocket on the front is perfect for a moleskin journal!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too tall for riding I'm a big Timbuk2 fan- my wife and I share a few of their bags for commuting, errands & traveling. I have an Especial Tres backpack I love, and I've been on the hunt to find something smaller for an everyday bike commuting backpack. I have an occasional meeting so I like the styling of the new Edge series as well as the narrower design of the Clark and Robin packs, but unfortunately neither will work for me. I tried the Robin first, but when it turned out to be too small (among a couple other things) I decided to give the Clark a shot. Although the volume of the Clark is spec'ed even larger than the Especial Tres, the volume is expandable and these Edge bags are pretty sleek and compact. Plus, at the time I ordered the Clark the dimensions were listed as the same height as the Tres and shorter than the Robin. From the photos I knew that had to be an error (which has since been corrected), but based on the photos it seemed like the Clark could work. But unfortunately, I'm 5'8" and would be unable to comfortably ride with this pack for my daily commute of 4 to 10 miles. It is so tall and I can't cinch down the roll-top enough that it bumps up against the back of my head. A taller person or someone who has a more upright riding position might not have this problem. One other downside to both the Clark and the Robin is that the side pockets are very snug. They lie flat against the bag (which looks nice), but it was not easy to insert and remove a Kryptonite mini lock or a small, lightweight windbreaker I typically carry in those pockets. Other than that the bag is well-built, spacious, I dig the magnetic straps, and I'm a big fan of the shoulder strap and back-padding on their Especial and Edge designs. It's very comfortable for riding. My ideal bag would be a narrower Timbuk2 25-30L slim roll-top with this padding. (The Parker and the Especial Medio slot into this size range, but both are pretty wide nor are roll-tops.) Still on the hunt...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful backpack The minute it arrived my husband said he was taking it. I biked with it to work and the weight distribution/straps were comfortable. I especially liked the reinforced/cushioned back area. Even with a computer it felt good. The roll top is new to me, and it would be nice to have some front-facing pockets, but the look (because of the roll top) is great. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
