The Therm-a-Rest Z Lite Sol Sleeping Pad is a foam mattress for lightweight backcountry adventures. The Z Lite Sol doesn't inflate, so you don't have to worry about holes or repair patches. The closed-cell foam is denser at the bottom than it is on the top, providing additional durability against rocks, sticks, and whatever else your tent may be pitched upon. The ThermaCapture™ surface is where it's at, reflecting your own heat back at your body as you get some shut eye, so make sure you place the shiny silver side up. Folds up in a flash, just hook it to the sleeping pad straps on your pack in the morning and move along on the trail.

FEATURES of the Therm-a-Rest Z Lite Sol Sleeping Pad

  • Our most compact closed-cell mattress uses an aluminized surface that reflects heat, increasing the overall warmth by 20%
  • The Z Lite Sol mattress is the right choice for anyone seeking warmth, durability and comfort that carries light and sleeps anywhere
  • The original Z Lite mattress is available without a reflective barrier"Coyote/Gray
  • Ultralight
  • Extra Durable: Virtually indestructible closed-cell foam provides lasting, economical comfort

ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does its job well and it's sturdy Used it for two nights of tent camping in Virginia this week. It does a great job keeping you from feeling little pebbles on the ground and keeping you insulated from the ground. I'm 5'10" medium build and it was plenty long and wide enough for me. It doesn't come with a strap so be sure to get/find one as it unfolds itself when left alone. Didn't use it outside the tent so I can't speak for the "sol" feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic! A classic and light weight sleeping pad! Bulky but can be easily strapped to the outside of your pack. Purchased the regular length which worked fine for being 6 foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thermarest SOL sleeping pad I bought this sleeping pad a couple weeks ago and I haven’t already used it multiple times! Great for backpacking, camping and even day hikes since it’s so light!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesomeness!!! I bought this pad for an upcoming backpacking trip and I am beyond pleased with it! It’s sooooooo light and straps easily to my pack. I will definitely be using this pad on the regular solo and paired with my thermarest self inflatable pad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great but I wish a bit longer. This is a great mat, feel durable and is exactly why I expected when ordering. I’m 6’ tall and an athletic 200 lbs. My feet hang off the end of the mat and my shoulders are a bit to wide for it as well. I really like the mat and wish they made a slightly bigger size then there large. If you are y’all and Broad shouldered I would consider another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Sleeping Pad I bought this to use as part of my backpacking set up and it’s the perfect addition to my pack! I’m using a hammock system but I needed something to block out the wind from below. Even a 20 degree bag won’t cut it in 25 degree weather! Underquilts work great but are so expensive! This was just what I needed. It’s a great price, durable, and I couldn’t feel any breeze from under my hammock. It kept me warm all night. I’m 5’ 5” and it fits perfect. I like to have a little room to wiggle around. I have a 30l pack and it strapped right to the outside. I also love that you can refold and use as a chair or a wind shield. It’s quite versatile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Budget friendly Took this out last week in mild temps to Kings Canyon and had no complaints. The combo of durability, weight, and function can not be beaten at this price point.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super durable! This thing is great to just use as a seat by the campfire before throwing it int he tent to use it for my 2yr olds sleeping mat. Not the most comfy but my daughter is only 3yr and can sleep on the floor.

Because of the heat technology in this mat, is it too warm to use during summer months? Don't really want to have to have a winter and a summer mat... Would flip the reflective side down, but the description said the bottom is more dense than top.

Asked by: MelA
Hiya MelA, thanks for your question! This sleeping pad shouldn't be too warm for you. It only has a R-Value of 2.6 (compared to something like the Therm-a-Rest Neoair Dream Sleeping Pad, which has a R-Value of 6). It also depends on what sleeping bag you have, your body temperature, and weather conditions. You can flip the pad over but the bottom side won't be as soft as the top side. Hope this helps!

What is the best stuff sack for this pad? I clip mine on the outside of my pack and like to have at least a little protection from the elements.

Asked by: Claire
You can put this pad inside any brand stuff sack. It folds down to about 9 liters unless you trim it smaller - so you would want a 10-liter sized sack. Some customers buy an oversized backpack cover and just use that to protect all their gear with one shot. Another cool trick is If you have a pack with a removable back panel, you can use this pad in place of it although you'll lose some internal volume. I hope this helps!

I’m about 5 ft 5 in and 125 pounds. Would you recommend regular or the small size?

Asked by: Whit
Hey there Whit, good question! I would definitely go for the regular length pad at your height. It is 6' long and the small would be far too short for you to sleep on. I hope this helps!
