ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mold on the inside and lack of customer service Purchased this product in Colorado back in 2016. It's super light, packable and comfortable. It's quite noisy at the begining but after a while the noise gets better (or maybe I just got used to it). A few months back I started to have an issue with mold on the inside. It just appeared 1 day, even though I dry my equipment completely after each use. The promotional video states that the mats are coated inside so you dont have to be worried about condensation creating mold. Well, I disagree with this statement. What surprised me even more is the lack of customer service. I've been waiting over 2 months for someone to respond to my enquiry. Only received an automated response that I can wait 3-5 weeks due to high volume of enquiries.. Would expect a bit more for $160 purchase..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfort for side sleepers Customer service is great first off 5 star customer service, 4 star for the pad because of size. Item was replaced with a new one. I had been sleeping on a defective pad for a few years... it was the most comfortable mattress I had used until I bought a trekkers neoair mattress (more room to toss and turn). I would have to fill it 2 or 3 times a night. It was annoying but worth it for ther comy sleep until it deflated enough to wake me up. So I use the trekker 90% of the time unless my family comes with me. My wife did not enjoy waking up to a deflating mattress, so I use the xlite when we all go camping. I sent in the mattress for a repair expecting weeks to go by and a bill for the repair. 10 days have passed and a new mattress appeared at my doorstep with no charge. Even with years passing since I bought it the manufacturer stands behind their product. I'm excited to try my light weight pad on a backpacking trip in a couple weeks, thanks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great night's sleep, but please make a regular length wide! I've been using this pad for nearly 3 years, first in the regular iterations which were far too narrow - your arms would fall off of the pad - and for the past year in the wide version. In my experience 25in really ought to be standard. It's as comfortable as my bed at home, isn't noisy, and I don't fall off and wake up in the night again and again like I did with the 'narrow' size. It's also been surprisingly durable. While I don't put this pad down directly on the ground ever, I don't always use anything to protect it while in the tent, which hasn't lead to disaster through PCT and Colorado trail hikes so far, knock on wood. On the other hand, it's just way too long for me at 5'9, and that length sometimes causes problems with crashing into the walls of my tent, especially on less than ideal terrain that isn't level. This is especially annoying when there's condensation all over the walls of my shelter, or its raining -- everything winds up way wetter than is necessary by morning time. I've modified my xlite with silicon on the bottom to prevent slipping, but now consider chopping 6 or 7 inches off of the pad. Does this void the warranty to 'improve' the Xlite? Warranty be darned. So my opinion based off of a huge amount of use is that the short will not be useful for all but the tiniest folks, the regular is a little better given its length but misses the mark due to its narrowness. And the wide, well, it's as good as it gets. Thermarest really needs to consider offering the wide in varying lengths though, that is not cool lumping the only truly usable width into one length. Judging by other reviews, I'm not the only human that thinks this. Great pad unfortunately disguised as a 'good' pad, yet it's still the best there is as far as I'm concerned, and still made in the USA by an awesome company. 3/5

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, even for big guys. I am 6'5" with a 52" chest and a 38" waist and I sleep like a baby on the Men's XLite Large. I am a side sleeper and sleep with a down quilt and I sleep like a baby night after night. Only gets 4 stars because the material can be a bit noisy if you move while you sleep. If you're looking for supreme comfort, this may not be what you're looking for. But if what you need is a comfortable place to lay your head after a long day on the trail, this pad is like a dream in a hammock or a tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot, Cold; Men, Women; Tall or Short. Everyone wants WIDER! Excellent product. Looking forward to the wider elbow version. Women specific is a marketing gimmick. Look, there's short to tall, thin (cold) to thick (warm). Some have wider shoulders. Everyone wants more elbow width. The NeoAir are the best on the market, but please make a stretched hexagon or lollipop shape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product but you need to make a shorter 25" wide model. I've used mine for close to 100 nights and had had no problems or leaks. Being pretty broad-shouldered, the large/25" model does the trick - my arms just fall off the 20" models. While the length of the large is definitely nice, I would buy a shorter wide model if it were offered for trips where I am more focussed on reducing weight/bulk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Optimal I have had this mattress for a couple years now. I ended up buying them for the whole family. It has been bomb proof so far. I always use a footprint or ground cloth, so no punctures for me. I've slept on it in 20 degree temps and been warm with a quilt. After 2yrs of trekking and some serious conditions it's as good as the day I bought it. We now have 4 of these and zero issues. Oh yeah its a bit noisy when you move around. But way more comfortable than a foam pad that weighs the same.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too narrow, arms fall off the pad when sleeping on my back I bought the WR (Women's Regular), which is 20" wide by 66" long. The length is perfect for me (I'm 5'4") but it's way too narrow. When I lie down on my back, my hands are going to resting on the hard cold granite of Canadian Shield. I'm going to return it and get the large, for the extra width at 25" (still too narrow for my liking) but I'll be carrying around a whole extra foot of pad in the length.
