I don’t know if this item I got had been used for a review or tested but I have a trip soon and don’t have time to deal with the return process. This is both a great disappointment in two brands Moosejaw and Therm-a-Rest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hannah from Performed great in winter backcountry. My husband and I used these on a winter attempt of Mt. Whitney back in late February 2020. Our tent was on a bed of snow and temps were in the teens at night. Neither of us got cold. In preparation for that trip, we tested these out in a 3 season tent on snow in temps down to -13degF. Again, neither of us got cold on these mattresses. For reference, we were using a 0-degF bag (me) and 0-defF quilt (my husband) and some sleeping bag liners for extra warmth. Overall, while not super light, these pads are probably the only good choice for winter camping without having a 5 lb bedroll. At ~16oz, you cannot match the warmth.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LdoubleJ from Comfy!! I bought this pad to try out a different R value and up my comfort level on the trail from my old foldable therm-a-rest pad. And let me tell you I slept like a baby out in the backcountry. It’s like a legit air mattress, but it is only a pound. I do recommend using the bag to inflate the pad since it only takes like 3 bag fills of air. It would take like 30 breaths to fill this pad up. The pad might be noisy for you, but it didn’t bother me at all.

Here it says the R value is 5.7, but on thermarest.com the "NeoAir® XTherm™ MAX Sleeping Pad" has a listed R value of 6.9. Is this an older model with a different R value or is the information incorrect?

I heard for 2020 the R-values got standardized in the industry so I believe what used to be an R-value of 5.7 is now an R-value of 6.9. Thermorest said the only change they made in the pad itself for 2020 is that there is now a new type of valve.

Am I correct in assuming this is not self inflating? I wish not to add a pump to my car camp gear but don't want to spend time/energy blowing up (2) mattresses.
