ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waist your money I was debating for a long time if I should invest a lot of money for the quality mat or buy a cheaper one. I got this product and two days after it arrived I went on 10 days mountain trip, which includes 10 nights in cold temperatures. After three nights it started to deflate, no idea how and why. I kept waking up at night to fill it up to make sure I don't completely freeze. I had one day to transfer to another mountain range and I rang up the company to complaint about it, they said to send a picture of the hole. Really? I don't have a bath to fill it up and find a hole there it deflates on 4 km mountain. Warranty doesn't cover the holes, quality is not as described. When I paid so much money I expected to use a product for years, not 3 days. Even mat will be fixed, there isn't a way I can trust it for mountain trips and I didn't get the mat for the campsite purposes but for cold mountains.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Deflates slowly but surely When I first tested the pad in my living room I was ecstatic, but the moment I tried it for a full night I found myself laying on an almost entirely deflated pad by morning. This has happened every single time I have used the pad, staring with the very first use. I have tried using a pump, the stuff sack, and my breath and all result in the same problem. It is no longer usable and no longer covered under warranty (I do not know why I waited and kept giving it another chance thinking the new conditions would provide a new result). Not a pad that can reliably be taken on a trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great (but we need wider elbow space) The best mattress available, but Thermarest should offer more dimensions. Men and women, tall and short have roughly the same shoulder-hip (not waist) width ratio. But Thermarest forgot that we all have elbows. For the vast majority of people who sleep on their back, the XTherm is TOO LONG and NOT WIDE enough. Average 70" tall men: 10" head, 20" shoulders, 25" elbows, 20" waist, 15" knees, 10" feet. The average woman is 64" tall. There is more diversity in widths than height. The average (regular) mattress should be 25"x70" (or much shorter cuz we can use pillows or put our feet up on our backpack). Anyway, all mattress producers have forgotten that we have elbows. Until they remember, this is the warmest, lightest one available.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great for stomach sleepers I took this on my first backpacking trip a few weeks ago and I could not get comfortable. I kept slipping and sliding off the mat and my arms were going numb when they hung off the mattress. I even turned the mattress rough side up which helped but not enough where I could give it more than 2 stars. I think it would be great for back sleepers who don't move in there sleep.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lifetime warranty means nothing.... Lifetime warranty means nothing. Brand new xtherm and the seam was not sealed properly. (I could fit a finger in the side of it) I called customer service and they stated the seam is not covered under warranty.... They wanted me to send it into them at my own cost to inspect it. They do not cover workmanship. I would highly recommend looking at a different brand that stands behind there products and craftsmanship. The least they could do is send me a decent repair glue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not warm, very expensive I purchased this mattress over two years ago and have used it in 4 seasons with the coldest night temperatures being just under -5 C/ 23 F. I am 5ft 7 inches, 125 lbs and fit. I had bought it because I had trouble staying warm and comfortable with my thinner thermarest mattress, a 20 year old equivalent to the thermarest trailscout. In cool temparatures, I use a high quality down sleeping bag rated at -15 C/ 5 F. This mattress does not keep me warm! The air within the mattress is the same temperature as the outside air and circulates like refrigerator coils, seeping through the apparent down liner of the matress and through my down my sleeping bag! I have had to take a thick fleece blanket to use as an insulate between the mattress and my sleeping bag just to be able to sleep in anything other than summer temperatures. I imagine that this mattress works only for those who already generate a lot of body heat when they are sleeping. It is noisy through my husband sleeps deeply so only wakes if I am moving around alot.. Positives: lightweight, compact and keeps me from feeling stony ground. Will try to return it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from NeoAir XTherm Max - great quality, so noisy, abandoned it Having had two Thermarest mats for over 20 years and the great doubling straps, I didn't hesitate to buy the NeoAir Max when I geared up for solo wild camping. An excellent product for keeping me warm, but a very noisy fabric for sleeping on. Every time I turn, or even slightly adjust my position, the sound wakes me and anyone else in the tent. My wife tried it and won't use it again. After just a couple of trips with it, I now leave it at home and use the old faithful original Thermarest. Much more bulky and it doesn't have the R Value, but at least I get an undisturbed night's sleep. They're not cheap and for me a waste of money. Try before you buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NeoAir is absolutly the BEST! I an a PROUD owner of the NeoAir mattress. I used to laugh at Thermarest, thinking who needs that level of comfort UNTIL I tried the NeoAir. WOW, I own and sleep on a Sleep Number bed and I have to say the Neo Air is as if not more comfortable than my bed. I absolutely LOVE it and would not go camping without it. I purchased the NeoAir XTherm for winter mountaineering. It is absolutely amazing, comfortable, light and warm. I love the inflator bag that comes with it. I can not say enough about the NeoAir mattresses!

Are both top and bottom fabric of the NeoAir XTherm Sleeping Pad 30D Rip Nylon? I heard that it was more durable than the XLite.

Asked by: Grey Wolf
Thanks for the question! The NeoAir XTherm has a 70 denier nylon bottom and 30 denier ripstop nylon top - making it extremely durable. You should be able to use this pad for years without having any durability issues. I hope this helps!
