I just got my coat and I love the style. It fits like a charm but ... in the rain, if you put your hands in the pockets, your wrists get soaking wet! The inside of the pockets get drenched. If you leave your hands out -- they freeze and get sopping wet. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!! NO SIDE POCKETS. This gorgeous coat went from an A++ to a D-. Please fix this flaw. It is miserable.

Is thus jacket hood for freezing weather?

Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, The North Face does not temperature rate their outerwear because warmth & comfort varies for each person. With that said, they use a warm, warmer, and warmest rating system. The Women's Snow Down Parka is rated as "warmest". It is also waterproof and has 600-down fill insulation. I would consider this an appropriate option for freezing weather. A couple other options are the Arctic Parka and the Expedition Arctic Parka. I included links below.
