DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Flattering but cheaply made I love the style of this jacket, it accentuates all of the right places! Very true to size. I am 5'3 and 150 lbs and bought a medium and it fits perfectly. Also enough room to wear a light sweater underneath. Although I love the jacket I think it is way over priced. It is a very light jacket - perfect for Spring or Fall. Not fit for New England winters. The first day I wore it the zipper broke and now does that annoying thing where its unzipped at the bottom but still zipped at the top. Not a huge deal but for the price you pay I expect a durable zipper. Another con is that if you have animals it is close to IMPOSSIBLE to get the hair off of this jacket. The material is like a magnet to hair and even a lint roller doesn't get it all off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and well made. Very nicely made and fits well. Sizing recommended a medium but glad to have went with a large for a little more room. Another great North Face product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great coat!! I brought this for my teenage daughter and she loves it. It is warm and stylish. The fit is accurate. The extra collar around the neck is perfect for cold Iowa winters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect sizing and very warm We recently moved to New England, and I was absolutely unprepared for the harsh winter it would bring. I researched sub zero jackets that weren't very bulky but still offered superior insulation. I went ahead with this jacket and have never been happier. It doesn't look casual or dressed down, has a flattering cut and definitely keeps me warm even in 0 degree weather. The sizing is generous, doesn't run small might run a bit big.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this jacket! I bought this jacket a month ago and I am so happy that I did! It’s great for the Michigan winter and very stylish. I’ve received so many compliments already. The jacket does run really big. I like my jackets bigger, especially because I usually have a sweater or hoodie on. I ordered my normal size and wish I would’ve sized down at least one size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Bought this product as a gift and I've heard nothing but good things about it from the recipient. Good length on both the regular length down along with sleeve length, as it fits a 6ft woman just fine. Overall its a great jacket, especially at its price point.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable and Stylish I travel often for work and am in and out of transport and buildings so I was looking for a coat for this purpose. The positives of the coat: 1) it is easy to slide on and off over your shirts and sweaters, yet it still has a flattering cut and doesn't appear to be super boxy; 2) it has deep, zippered pockets which are big enough for my phone and my wallet when going through security and on transport; 3) it is not too hot to keep on when I'm in movement (like the airport or uber) yet it is warm enough for moving in between cars and buildings in the cold 4) the soft, sweater fabric is comfortable and doesn't make my hair staticky like down coats often do; 5) it is machine washable. The negatives: 1) I have only owned this coat for about a month and have only washed it once, yet it appears to already be pilling like a sweater does, especially on the seat and wear the arms rub along the sides. I have three pets and it easily attracts their hair and it's really hard to get off, even with a lint roller. This being said, the coat does seem like it will take some work to keep it "groomed." 2) I wish the coat had an inner zipper pocket that would fit a passport or phone. I also wish it had something to keep the hood in place. I am 5' 6'' and 120 lbs, am long and lanky, and almost always wear a size small or 2. I bought this coat in a size small and it fits well- it is long enough to cover my bum and the sleeves are long enough as well. Overall, I'm really happy with this coat but did not give it a 5 due to the pilling issue-- but if you're willing to do a little grooming on the coat, I would highly recommend it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Basic I’m 5’7” and 156# and curvy. I ordered this jacket in large but it was too big. I would have reordered a medium but I felt it would have been too short in the sleeves. I loved the length.

How cold of temps would this jacket be comfortable for? Comfortable in below freezing, or is this more meant for slightly chilly weather? Wondering how it would hold up for central Minnesota winter.

Asked by: Lauren
Hey there! Thanks for reaching out to us! If there's one thing I love....it's temperature questions! woo hoo!! So, this coat does not have a temperature rating. In fact, most coats do not have temperature ratings. This is for several reasons. Mainly, it's because warmth is a subjective thing, unique to each person. Not only that, but there are other factors that can affect a person's (jacket's) warmth: wind, humidity, activity level, what else your wearing, etc. However, we can still help you! As this jacket is best used for mountaineering and alpine sports, I'd say you'll be fine for shoveling Minnesota snow or walking to the store. Basic stuff like that, and the coat will be super duper. While I wouldn't take it for a month long hike in Antarctica, I think you'll be ok with normal things in a Minnesota winter! Hope this helps you out! Hugsies.
