DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A disappointment I have been an avid fan of lightweight Northface hiking pants for over a decade. My last pants were the Men's Northface Horizon II Cargo Pants...they are still my favorite warm weather pants of all time and I wear them a lot here in SW Louisiana for yardwork, hiking and excercise...however, they are several years old and I recently began looking for an alternate and eventual replacement pant. I discovered that Northface no longer makes this pant in the men's form and the closest type to my NF H II C Pants is the Men's Superhike Pants. So I ordered a pair. At first I thought they would be okay. However, the more I wore them, the more I disliked them. On the positive side they are lightweight and look to have the good, sturdy construction I have come to expect of Northface pants. On the negative side, even though the material stretches the material tends to stick to my skin and does not slide like my previous pants...and this is definitely annoying with the heat and humidity where I live. Also, maybe as a result of the way the material clings, the pants felt small, although they were the same size as previous NF pants and I have not gained any weight. Another annoying feature was the odor of the material. It is like a rubbery/plastic smell which I found very noticeable and unpleasant. At first I thought it was just the newness of the pants/material and running them through the dryer (set on low, delicate and removed when still damp). However, after 2 more washings and air-drying the smell persisted/was no less. Because I could not return them due to tag removal, washing, etc., I gave them away after 3 attempts at wearing. So, I guess I'll be wearing my old NF H II Cargo Pants til they fall apart!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Pants I bought these pants about a month ago and wasn't sure what to expect. I beginning to get into hiking, and needed pants that were tough, but flexible and comfortable. These pants not only fit those descriptions but exceeded them. Nothing beats these hiking pants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My New Favorite Pant The Super Hike pant is my new favorite pant for everyday wear. I have 3 pair and plan to buy more as needed, or as other colors become available. Lightweight, durable, true to size fit, nice colors, fair price. What more could one ask for when deciding to purchase a pant.
