DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and fit for mountaineering I will wear it when I am belaying in the cold weather/alpine climbing. It's very warm!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Coat! Only down side I see is the mesh pocket liners, there's no place to keep your hands warm if you don't have gloves. I struggle to find coats with long enough sleeves, this coat fit the bill nicely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Outstanding jacket you'll love despite its flaws Overall, love love love this jacket. Its incredibly warm, light, and flexible. It fits very well, sleek look especially for a puffy. The body hem drawstrings are clutch. I haven't put it through too much yet but seems pretty durable. The issues: The pockets. Wear gloves, because you are not going to want the pockets open. They are lined with mesh so if the pocket zippers are open, the warmth of the jacket is greatly compromised. I'm all for vents and breathability, but not like this. If it's cold enough for me to want my hands in my pockets, it's probably cold enough that I would prefer to keep my body heat in. The hood. I understand that it is oversized for a helmet and such, but without a helmet, the hood just floats around your head, catching all sorts of wind and cold. It would be amazing to have some drawstrings for times when it's just my noggin in the hood. The zipper. The zipper is mildly inconvenient, because the guard incessantly gets caught in it. If you place your finger behind it though, you can prevent it happening for the most part.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's pretty good Not my favorite. I buy all my North face coats in medium (currently have 8-9 I'm rotating through). This one restricts movement in the arms. I wouldn't want it any bigger or it would be sloppy on me. It also has a seam running on the inside of the arms not visible from the outside. It rubs you and is uncomfortable if wearing short sleeves. Not near the quality I've come to expect from the north face. I'm hoping it softens up a little bit with wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great multi-use jacket! Bought this for a warm mid-layer for skiing and mountaineering (I definitely would have to layer up for this to keep me warm on a cold and windy day). But overall, great jacket that I can also rock in the city or to work. Only down sides were I wasn't as impressed with the main zipper quality, as well as the down feathers tend to pop out more than other down jacket brands I have owned. For the price I am really hoping for a solid 5+ years out of this, AT LEAST.
