The North Face Men's Paramount Peak II Convertible Pant is a hiking pant for various temperature situations on the trail. You never know when you're gonna hit a cool front or warm front, so it's really best to be prepared. Pants one minute and with a quick unzip at each knee, shorts the next. Regardless of which way you wear them you're always treated with a built-in belt, two cargo pockets and two front pockets and two back pockets. That's a lot of pockets. Load 'em up with candy, a map and maybe a pocket knife. Then walk until you can't walk no more.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love these pants I have owned 7 pairs of these. Seriously. I use them for mountain bike guiding, hiking, rock climbing, rafting, bush whacking and trail building. They are durable, breathe well and fit good. As shorts, they do not look like zip offs. As pants, they still look pretty stylish. Admittedly, style was lower priority than functionality, but according to friends who care about style; they said, "hey, those look pretty good". The only critique I have for the Paramount and Paramount II pants is that they do not have any stretch. (There is stretch in the back band, but not in the rest of the fabric). I blew out 4 pair of the original Paramount convertible pants in the crotch, each after a season of mountain bike guiding. The Paramount II fixed that problem by making a gusseted crotch that breathes well and adds flexibility. Note: I tried the Paramount 3, but those pants are built for people with twig legs, they don't fit over my quads and I am a fairly tiny person. If you had part of your legs surgically removed and like a super tight, non- stretchy pant, then those are for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these pants, I need another pair! Love these pants, I wear them every week. I need another pair so I can wear them all week. Very comfortable I would like to have the bottom part of the legs to allow for comfort when lifting my legs. It would help when i run. The problem is resolved if I unzip the bottoms, but that doesn't help when it is colder. Would recommend to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Paramount Peak 2 - best pants Have 5 pairs of Paramount Peak 2 and 5 pairs of Paramount Peak 1 - Paramount Peak 2 convertible pants are my favorite. I where them almost every day, all year long - in the office, out on the town, in the woods hiking, in the river trout fishing, in my kayak, ocean fishing and getting grubby. None better. No others can compare. Durable. Tried others, but don't bother with any of them anymore. Please do not discontinue. Several people asked me about them and want them. Hard to find. I want more too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pants These are great pants. Very comfortable, lots of pockets, very durable fabric. They are pretty much the only pants I wear in the summertime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent pants. Made it through the Inca Trail (brief rainshowers and all) without difficulty. The fit is relaxed; 'Small' fitted well for me with a 31 - 32 inch waist and 31 inch inseam. The cell-phone pocket needs to be repurposed. Converting to shorts is easy with boots on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pants Wear for all casual occasions. Have the same pants in khaki for several years, very durable. Definitely wash and wear. Great for rain and snow, water resistant. I use them for plane travel, hiking, biking, kayaking, boating, will do for golf and going out casual. I got fish blood on these and spot washed with water and came right out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful product; I would definity purchase again. Really fantastic pants; my husband and son love them, and they are really fussy. Hit the jackpot with these as a gift.
