The North Face Men's McMurdo Bomber is a short length jacket for the winter weather. The burly McMurdo, now in a bomber style. Packed with 600 fill power down, it's incredibly warm, just like it's bigger brother. The DryVent shell is waterproof and breathable, so the snow storm can't get through. A few less pockets than the classic, lengthy version, but it still has the cozy, removable faux fur ruff that wraps around your face and traps heat close. Now in a more mangeable length for in and out of the office and running around the city.

It's warm and very nice looking, and if it lasts as long as my old one I'll have it for many years to come.

I like that it's generously sized, so I can wear extra layers on those days when it's down into the negative temps. I found the cuffs to be a little too long, though. I also don't like the choice to use cheap velcro to seal the wind flap over zipper placket instead of snaps or magnets. The velcro catches on the cuffs when I'm trying to zip the coat, and on the rib knit hem when I'm trying to put it away. It got to be so annoying (and damaging to the cuffs and hem) that I took a seam-ripper to the velcro to remove it and had my spouse seal the gaps in the stitching. So, although I like the look and fit of the coat, I took a star off for the damaging velcro.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The quality has gone down since I bought my first McMurdo Compared to my 10 year old McMurdo (the lining has finally worn out), this new model is deficient in several ways: From the awful velcro closures (damaged my sweater before I even got the jacket out of the bag) to the flimsy hood attachment that's all style and little substance -- won't be much use on a cold, windy day. Even the handy arm pocket is gone, which might be okay of NF added a second inside pocket. I'm returning this parka.
