Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing coat Just like all the north face gear I have bought this is a great coat. Very warm and a lot of thought went into it and somebody that skis or snowboards designed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best jacket!! Wow, best North Face ever purchased! Quality is excellent and the jacket is great for skiing. Zip out liner gives you 2 coats in 1. Couldn’t have asked for a better jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and flexible Needed a jacket for a ski trip to Vail in February and it was between The Northface Apex Storm, Gambit and Condor jackets. Moosejaw's reps recommended this one for the warmth, versatility, and comfort and it was an excellent choice. Being on the mountain in 10-35 degree weather, this jacket kept me perfectly warm and dry with only a single base-layer underneath. I'm 6'0", 175lb and the medium fit perfectly. While, providing excelling protection, the shell is flexible enough to provide excellent mobility on the slopes. The only drawback is there are no pit-zips and the inner snowbelt can only be snapped if the fleece-layer is now zipped into the shell. The jacket is long enough though that I didn't experience any powder making it's way up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable Purchased this for my son for skiing. The coat has some weight to it but it warm, very well made, and comfortable. He is very picky about clothing and this definitely passed the test!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than Expected! Happy Camper. I had gotten a TNF Arrowood and TNF Thermoball jackets as gifts. I had to return the Arrowood (too cold/too bulky per my fiance); and my dad kept the Thermoball (even if he looked cold in it during 20 degree weather) because he's a good sport because Dad's are just happy you got them something! Anyway, I came back to see if MJ had some other TNF jackets after a request for yet another exchange by my fiance. He is a huge fan of the Apex Bionic 2 I got him a few years back, so here I was looking at this jacket. I was kind of hesitant in buying the Apex Storm because it had no reviews yet, but I went over to TNF.com and was thrilled to see that it had 5 stars etc. I ordered a Black one as a test (was super happy it was on sale to boot). Got it the other day. Fiance was ecstatic. Few things: 1) It does have a longer seat just as pictured, so it's going to retain heat and if you board/ski and need to sit on those cold lifts, your butt won't get cold. 2) Material of both shells is soft and you can move really well in it. Seems durable so far. 3) Pockets are easily accessible on outer shell: two in the top chest, two by hips/waist & one on the left arm for sunglasses/small goggles with the lens wipe. (Didn't see any inside pockets off the top of my head.) I think the inner shell has two outside pockets if you decide to only use that part of the jacket. 4) It's like having dual windwall protection and the outer shell and inner shell both have the fleece liner that the Apex normally carries. 5) Jacket is not bulky. Stylish for slopes or street wear. 6) The hood will definitely fit a helmet or cover your ball cap. Hood is also removable. 7) Another great thing we liked about the jacket is the high collar. It's almost like having a neck gaiter on. 8) Used the Truefit finder. In that way it's true to whatever it picks for you. My fiance is 5'5 and 145-150 and I got him a M. We did get a small too because he wanted to try it. Seat was shorter, more like a trail jacket, and a lot tighter - no room for any other layers/hoodie etc. Loved it so much, I ordered the Zinc Gray for my dad as a future Christmas gift to replace the Thermoball, and we did order the Caper Berry Green too, but sending that one back - size too small/color not as expected. NOTE: THE CAPER BERRY GREEN IS LIGHT BEIGE GREEN. It is not as dark as pictured. The picture on the site looks more brown. It's like a medium khaki green. The Caper Berry Green Apex is being sent back because it does not match UPS Brown. I wish they made this jacket for women! I'd have already ordered one for me too.

is this jacket good for 20-30 degree weather?

Asked by: Joel
Hiya Joel, thanks for your question! We do not temperature rate our jackets as each person tolerates temperatures differently. That said, this is an excellent choice for winter temperatures and conditions. Hope this helps!

Is the hood removable? Or does it roll up?

Asked by: Boofsu
Heya, Boofsu - thank you for checking us out! The helmet compatible hood is completely detachable! It's a snap / zipper connection. It's a pretty big hood, so that would be a monster to have to roll up in to the collar!
