Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough as tough can get. I bought this duffel to travel around Europe and it was absolutely fantastic. I've owned it for one year now and have used it in my travels all across North American and Europe. I throw this bag all over over, in every imaginable condition and I never have to worry. It's has a very high built quality, all the components still work perfectly. If you pack it efficiently and use the compression straps, then you can use it as carry-on luggage. It's tough, spacious and perfect for everything I do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME LITTLE DUFFEL!!!! I have the TNF medium and large duffel bags and wanted to purchase a smaller duffel. I love the color, size and futures of this duffel. I hope to add the XS, XL and XXL duffels to my collection in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Durable Against Arctic Abuse I've used this bag for over a year now for day to day use while flying in the Arctic. It's held up very well to the abuse of being tossed around in the gravel, snow and ice. Plenty of space for all my survival gear (Axe, tarp shelter, stove, dehydrated meals, ski googles, sat tracker, fire starter.. etc) lunch, small thermos, and a change of clothes. I've also taken it on snow shoe hikes, fishing and, used it as a gear bag while winter camping. The shoulder straps are comfortable but its not really ment for an extended hike. The compression straps work well to minimize the bag to carry on size. I also have the duffel in size large to carry gear for month long flight postings in remote camps. I've used bags from Gregory and MEC, but this TNF bag is by far one of the best pieces of gear I own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Carry On Perfect carry on size, cool color, would definitely recommend this duffel. I searched a lot for the best carry on duffel and after reviewing lots of options, this bag seems to be the best.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Black color has shiny GOLD interior. Yuk. The bag was perfect in all ways except... it has a shiny GOLD interior. This is not stated anywhere in the description. For such a bold (i.e. tacky) color choice, this should be shown in the pictures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect bag for travel Just the perfect size, still small enough to be okay for carry on when flying, waterproof, and the backpack straps are great. Good for a weekend trip but can fit enough for 2 weeks traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One tough bag!!! North Face Base Camp Duffle Small I've had this bag for longer than I can remember, I bought it back when I was in the Navy out in VA and it's been my go to bag for everything since I've had it... One of its functions over the years has been my motorcycle bag for the several different bikes l've had and it was usually held on by a bungie cord most of the time. Well since bungie cords sometimes tend to let go when you least expect, especially when in a hurry to get to work, the bag has rolled down the highway a few times. Twice before I noticed the moment it let go and was off the throttle right away and able to run back to grab it with nothing more than dirt and a few scuff marks to show for its 60+ mph tumble down the road... This last time I wasn't so lucky.... 0450 I get to work, reach back for my bag and it's gone!!! My stomach dropped... I hopped on the bike and raced back to get it.... This time when I'd gotten to the bag it had been run over, possibly more than once, even though it's bright yellow!?!? My lunch bag and all its contents had exploded inside the bag and my favorite coffee mug was flattened and shrapnel of all its parts were floating around with my extra riding gloves... With liquid dripping out I strapped it back on the bike and headed off to work... No coffee for me that morning... That night I get home and after a good rinse and a run through the washing machine it's still usable!!! List of its injuries: Two of the plastic cinch buckles broke, one for a shoulder strap the other for one of the cinch straps, the plastic key there's a small hole in the bottom along a seam that let go, next to a cut in the black Cardura, not all the way through the bag, but this "is" where the metal coffee cup was flattened in its defense, a few more scuff marks and a couple oil stains that didn't come out in the wash... All in all y'all make a very tough bag!!! Thanks! Todd

Can I use this as a carry on item? Does it fit in the overhead bin?

Asked by: LoJo
Hey there, Thanks for the question. The use of this as a carry-on item or its ability to be stowed into an overhead bin would depend on the specific airline you're flying, since these sizes and limits vary between each one. This bag has dimensions of 12.8” x 20.87” x 12.8”. The typical carry on size dimensions for an airline are roughly 16" x 22" x 9" so this might be a tad too large in width to be used as a carry-on.

The North Face website says the small duffel is 50 L (3051 cubic inches).  Here it is listed as 42L (2563 cubic inches).  Which is correct?

Asked by: Kimbap
Thanks for the question! Looks like our product specs are incorrect. The Small Duffel is in fact 50 liters (3051 in³) / 12.8” x 20.87” x 12.8”. I will get that updated on our site right away. Thanks for the heads up!

Does the bag in black (TNF Black) has "New small end-cap zippered pocket is perfect for keys, a wallet or little items". It's written in the bag's features. But I'm unable to see it from the bag's photo

Asked by: koko
Hiya Junny, thanks for your question! The zipper is right above the logo and below the handle. It is not visible from the pictures on this product page. I'll ask our Web Content Team to add a picture to this page. Sorry for the confusion!
