Rated 5 out of 5 by from super comfortable I received this as a gift and I love it. it's super comfortable and light enough to wear anytime, but keeps me warm on cooler/cold days. very flattering fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great base layer, tiny bit of room for improvement My main concerns with a base layer is first of all that it provides warmth, and secondly, that it is tight fitting, super thin, and stretchy enough so the fabric does not move around and wrinkle beneath my outer layer. I guess my secondary concerns are this: Is the material going to be soft enough to sit against my bare skin, and are the sleeves long enough that I can grab the hem while I push my arms through the sleeves of my outer layer to prevent my base layer from getting scrunched up and wrinkled underneath. In March, my boyfriend and I will be traveling to Norway. According to weather trends there, the weather we are experiencing where we live is currently very similar, so I have been wearing this base layer a lot to test it out. I have come to the conclusion that this is a great base layer. It is very thin, very flexible, and yes, wonderfully stretchy. It provides an impressive amount of extra warmth for it's (almost) ethereal construction. That being said, it does not feel fragile as if it would be easy to tear or put a hole in. It also is not so transparent that it would be immodest to wear it as a stand alone garment top. This base layer keeps dry, which in turn, keeps me nice and toasty. I can tell a significant difference in the feel of this base layer when compared to cotton base layers that I have owned in the past (of which, I have found to be too thick, lacking in stretch and therefore comfort, and underwhelming in the warmth provision department). I am 5' 4", around 145 pounds, and wear a 34F bra. That last detail is important, because it is the reason I find it so difficult to find base layer tops that work for me (men, if you are reading this, and you don't know, that measurement means that the size of the bra band accommodates my 31 inch rib cage, but the cups must accommodate my 41 inch bust). Generally, If I can find a top that accommodates my ample bosom, it DOESN'T accommodate my significantly smaller rib cage, and therefore, I get huge swaths of fabric wrinkled up under my outer layer, and I am miserable battling layers of clothing that do not agree with one another all day. This base layer is form fitting (and stretchy) enough to make it basically a non-issue, though I would be happy for it to be even more form fitting (I suppose I could have purchased the small instead of the medium. It probably has enough stretch that I could have sized down). Probably my favorite thing about this merino base layer is that when indoors, because it incorporates this natural, breathable merino fiber into the construction of the garment, I do not feel like I am sitting in a hot box, nor do I feel the urge to begin stripping off layers of clothing. I also love that it has thumb holes. These make it easier to prevent sleeve wrinkles. I don't really love that it has a second pseudo sleeve cuff over the top. The men's version is simply a sleeve (which, by the way smartwool if you're reading this, take note please!) with a thumb hole, and far superior body map stitching. This weird double sleeve on the women's version does make it a bit difficult to use this garment as an effective base layer. It's basically a long tube of fabric attached behind the wrist area (almost to mid-forearm) only. Unless you hold the hem of this random fabric tube in your hand while getting into your outer layer, it rolls up and wrinkles all over your wrist joint like a giant rolled up tube sock. I found the experience unpleasant, and uncomfortable (why is it that men's body mapped garments are so much more prevalent, and so much more thoughtfully constructed than those for women?). The other "issue" I have with this base layer is that the merino wool used seems to be a bit course. Don't get me wrong, it is still very soft, much more akin to traditional T-shirt material feel than most people's traditional idea of wool, but still, *just* barely scratchy enough that I do sometimes notice it up against my skin. I have also been told that my skin is quite delicate/sensitive, so that may be part of it. However, compared to some other merino garments that I have, I would still say this one is not quite as fine tactile wise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love how soft it is! It fits great - not too tight and not too loose. Love how soft the fabric feels. It will get some heavy use on my upcoming trip to Nepal while I'm trekking the Annapurna Circuit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this! Sizing is accurate, shirt is soft and cut is great, fits perfect and doesn't pull in the wrong places.Feels cozy. Bought first one online at sierratrading but they only have one color and I want more colors so going to smartwool directly. Am willing to pay full retail for another color just because I love this shirt so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I must buy more! I wanted a sweater I could wear by itself that wasn't bulky and yet kept me warm. This top is easy dressing for cold winter walks and looks great with a pair of with jeans when running around town. I'm 5'6", about 165 lbs., large busted, and bought the XL so I would have some room and not accentuate my muffin top (I don't typically buy an XL, but Smartwool tops seem to run VERY small). It fits perfectly! The cut is very flattering and the color blocking makes it look super expensive. If you want a tad more room in your top, buy a size up -- especially if you wear a D cup. I'm going back for more colors!
