DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic I'm very picky about running gear and I went through about 7 pairs of winter running pants before going to these. They are expensive but they are worth it. High quality, warm, and comfortable. Wind panels in front are fantastic. I would buy these again, but let's hope they last a long time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great running tight for cold temps I've only used these as stand-alone running for cold weather. Thus far, air temps have ranged from -5F - +12F, with stiff wind [both apparent due to running, and stand-still from environment]. I'm impressed at the versatility of the garment: Temperature regulation is excellent - not too cold, not too warm. Hip pocket fits an Iphone 6s, zipper pocket at the small of the back is functional, and overall weight of the garment is very efficient. I would not wear these in a ski boot, as the zipper pull would create a pressure point above the achilles tendon. Sizing I find mostly good. I'm 6'1", 190lbs, and typically purchase pants with a 33" waist/ 34" inseam. I wear a large in this garment, and it could be a little longer in the leg, but I just wear longer socks to cover the length gap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Wind On Me This was my first purchase for winter running gear. I've run in regular sweat pants before in the winter and it was like having nothing on with the wind cutting straight through. The Men's PhD Wind Tight pants are superb. I've worn them twice in cold, wet, and windy conditions. They kept me warm and more important; I could feel NO wind passing through. My second run with them on was at 21 degrees F, snowing, and wind blowing 10 to 20 mph. My legs never got cold during a run. These things are awesome. I'll be ordering me a second pair real soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New favourite "MacGuyver" bottom garment I LOVE THESE TIGHTS! I have worn them close to 30 times since purchase doing everything from roadbiking and cyclocross to skate skiing to backcountry splitboarding... all in temps ranging from 0 degrees to 45 degreed F. They are rediculously versatile, quick-drying, and layer well if you need to wear them as a bottom layer (on-piste skiing, or under G-tex on the down from a skin lap in the backcountry, for example). ankle zips offer great veratility of ventilation on warmer/higher output days/activities. invisi-posket at waist keeps shots and small bars warm in super cold activities and they sit under the beltline of most packs. side pocket fits an i-5 in a lifeproof case and holds it there while skate skiing. Advice on sizing.... I have recently lost 30 lbs and am transitioning between M's L and medium. Technically, I FIT in the M size, but barely. my quads are constantly endeavoring to pull the waist down... this results in some overstressing and stretching of the crotch that I am sure would not happen in the L with the slightly linger dimensions. As I said,... my bad.. I was experimenting. Even with the stretching,I am sure to get more than a season out of these. LOVE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Product! Truly a wind stopper. I've been running all winter and always finished my runs with cold legs, even after bundling in layers. Now that I have the wind stopper tights, cold legs are a thing of the past!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly cold-proof for something so light I got these for cycling. They're not cut high in the back like cycling-specific tights, but the upside is that they're a little more versatile because of that. Size-wise, I'm between a medium and a large, and I'm glad I got the large. The windproof panels aren't very stretchy, so size up if in doubt. They've been great for cycling in near-freezing temps. I'm usually shedding a layer on the climbs and putting it back on for the descents, but my legs are always the perfect temperature with just the tights. It's amazing that one fairly thin layer could have such range.
