Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most dependable part of my cycling kit I've had the Large sized pack for over a decade of year round commuting in the Pacific Northwest. This pack has been an absolute workhorse, and it's cavernous. When you get four seasons in one day, this pack will hold all the clothing you need, and still have space to hold a growler. The atrocious weather this pack has seen - from black ice wipe outs to marble sized hail and torrential rain, I was never worried about my cargo arriving wet. Except that one time my container of soup leaked, but not a drop of soup ever got out. Over the years, the separator inside the pack holding the spine board separated, the shoulder load adjustment straps tore away from the straps but the pack kept on going. It kept going until about a month ago when I noticed that there was a small hole in the bottom seam of the pack (see photo) so now the pack has been relegated to summer only duty. I figured I've had over 2,250 days of use out of this pack and it has never failed me, I wish all my cycling gear was this dependable. I'll buy this pack again in a heartbeat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very strong, versatile, but not without flaws I've used the 37 L backpack for 9 years now as my primary bicycle commuting bag. Water resistance, ease of use, simplicity, "external suspension", relatively strong and durable materials are all good things. The negatives are the lack of internal organization pockets (you have to buy them separately at extra cost), the strap welds tore-off with time (I had them stitched to the body of the bag), sternum strap is a joke (it's made of a partially elastic fabrics and it stretches over time and loses its function), the straps soften and loosoen with time and come out of buckles and need frequent adjustments during use, the straps and padding in the back absorb sweat and start to smell really bad.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from coming unglued im afraid... I've had this bag 2 plus years and using it everyday 4 seasons. Cycling, camping, groceries, this is my work backpack. At this point the attachment point of the backpack strap is almost completely detached. Also the closure is wearing a seam in the material from folding and can now be seen through. Dont think it will last much longer...:0( i suppose 2 years is all you get. It was a gift and apparently quite expensive. Would have expected another year or 2 honestly...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Backpack This is a great backpack, Small Urban Backpack. I have used this backpack nearly every day for a year. Commuting to and from work using mass transit in Denver requires a backpack that is waterproof for a snow or rain storm sometimes both in the same day. This pack has always remained waterproof and is the prefect size to carry everything needed for a day and if needed a few items from the grocery store on the way home. The bag was perfect for a sailing trip around Nantucket as well as a summer rain storm on the island, I had no worries about the pack's ability to remain waterproof. I have taken a few minor hikes in the summer and was perfect for that as well. This pack was a bit of an adjustment to a single compartment with the one outer pocket from a multiple compartment pack, but I will probably not return to a multi compartment bag/pack again. On a superficial note I receive a positive comment or compliment on the pack most days. A great looking but very functional pack. I can confirm that the company stands behind their warranty on this product. I did send the pack into the service center after being given an RA. The warranty process was very easy an quick. The only delay was my delay in shipping the pack in after being issues an RA. I would recommend this backpack to family and friends without hesitation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expected more durability I don't use this bag very hard. Mostly for school. After only a year of clipping my waterbottle onto the webbing loops on the straps they started ripping off. I've had a lot of other SealLine products that have gotten me around the world no problem but this doesn't hold up the same. The way it ripped out I thing the webbing could have been sewn in better. The straps also loosen weekly when holding only two text books. Next time, I'll spend the money on a kayaking bag.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very durable and light, needs better straps This bag just keeps going and going. Bike commuting year round in Oregon, it's lasted and I've yet to find a better option. Get the internal organizer. Very helpful for keys, wallet, etc. The point that needs the most attention are the backpack straps. As others have mentioned, the straps cut into your shoulders/neck when the bag is fully loaded. Incorporating the grab handle into the shoulder straps seems to be the issue. I'll buy another one of these bags when the day comes, but have my fingers crossed the straps will be improved before I have to.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Started coming unglued 4 years after purchase First off, I love this backpack for its roominess, light weight and water repellence. It would be 5 stars if not for the issues stated below. With that being said... I purchased this pack in 2011 and pieces starting coming unglued about 4 years later.  The first piece was the small piece at the bottom of the interior of the bag that keeps the plastic frame from falling and poking a whole through the bottom of the bag. Most recently, half of the strap that keeps the bag closed has come unglued. I have been using duct tape to keep the interior piece in place for a few years now, but I am not sure how I will reattach the closing strap when that becomes completely detached.  Anchors that hold the shoulder straps in place are beginning to become unglued around the edges as well. On the flip side, the fabric and rubber bottom are in stellar condition. No leaking, cracking or punctures in the walls or bottom of the bag. I use it during the rainy months in the Pacific Northwest while performing wildlife surveys. I usually carry a plant manual, a notebook, rain gear and other layers. Does a great job of keeping everything dry and easy to get everything in and out with no wasted space. Again, love this bag, but I expect my gear to last longer than 4-6 years with proper care. Maybe there is a glue Seal Line can sell us if this is the expected lifespan of the glue. Please note, the first Seal Line See 5 dry bag that I purchased some 16 to 18 years ago is still in excellent condition, so I know they know how to build gear that lasts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible pricepoint for unbeatable quality Hey internet, I've been a bicycle messenger for a long time. I rely HEAVILY on a quality, large, functional, waterproof bag to make all my clients happy by transporting their packages in the same condition I picked them up in (even on rainy, snowy days). I've gone through PAC, REload, and Chrome bags for work. These are great companies, with great products, but for this price point, this bag is second to none. The large is HUGE, carrying over 40L, and very user friendly. No obtuse pockets, or gadgets to get in the way. Just a practical water tight bag that supports user comfort with padded straps and comfortable, secure back padding. This is hands down the most comfortable bag I've used for commuting to date. I've used mine, hard, for about a year before the gluing started to come off of the front pocket. This made the front pocket defunct, and affected the overall functionality of the bag. This is where I was became really impressed. I called the company about the manufacturing defect, and got a PROMPT response. They have some of the BEST customer service folks in the biz, and were able to replace my bag! How awesome is that?! This company is definitely worthy of your support.

What does it weigh? And can it carry a laptop? And how comfortable is it for those with a weak back.

Asked by: Monica
Hiya Monica, thanks for your question! The small size weighs 1 lbs 13 oz and the large weighs 2 lbs 1 oz. A laptop will fit but it doesn't have any internal pockets or padding so might want to consider getting a padded sleeve to protect it. Comfort can depend on how you fill the pack and if it is properly adjusted to fit your body.

I see your measurements for the small and large and since it is basically a tube, they make no sense to me that there would be a length, width and height... I just dont get it. can you explain what this covers? It seems like it must be obvious somehow

Asked by: rover
Hiya Rover, thanks for your question! It is a tube shape but it's not a perfect circle, so it is measuring the height, width and depth. I hope this makes sense!

There are no size specifications in the description of this item. Would you please clarify the difference between small and large? Is it L capacity or is it the height of the torso, like in a larger pack (75L+)? Thank you!

Asked by: asher
