The Sea to Summit Comfort Light Insulated Mat is an insulated sleeping pad for warmth and comfort while sleeping on the trail. The backpacker not only has to find a way to make nature their home, but they also have to carry their home on their back. The 21.8 ounces of weight and a packed size of 4.5"x9" (when using the included stuff sack) makes traveling with your bed much easier. The mat is pock-marked with 331 Air Sprung Cell™ technology, a dense, double layer of them at the torso and a single layer, more spaced out area of the air cells at the head and torso so you're not overburdened by weight. Inside each air cell is Thermolite® insulation to prevent heat loss from the cold ground, which helps give the R-value of 4.2 to the mat. A layer of Exkin® Platinum non-woven fabric adds to the warmth by reflecting your own body heat back at you.

FEATURES of the Sea to Summit Comfort Light Insulated Mat

  • Exkin Platinum fabric and Thermolite insulation are combined to prevent radiant and convective heat loss
  • Multi-function valve for easy inflation, deflation and fine tuning of air pressure
  • 40D rip-stop nylon face fabric offers the right balance between weight and durability

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The royalty of air mattresses I have been through several air mattresses in search of kind which was comfortable, durable, had a decent r value, and most importantly kept my hips off the ground when on my side. A friend of mine also tried it and was very impressed. I waited out a thunder storm a few mornings ago on this pad and was in no rush to get up. Opt for the pump sack. It’s very effective.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, comfy and easy to pack Love this insulated mat! Very easy to inflate, quick to deflate and simple to roll and pack. Love the valve system. Works really well with the inflation sack that sea to summit has. I am 6’2 and the regular works perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy I will be using this in the field in about a week and may come back to edit. However I wanted to go ahead and say this is the most comfortable mat I've ever laid on. This might be the biggest upgrade I've stuffed in my pack. It packs down next to nothing. Be sure to purchase the Sea to Summit Air Stream Dry Sack Pump with this product. They go hand in hand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable I have been out camping with this sleeping pad several time since I purchased it. It is very comfortable to sleep on and am very happy with it. I am primarily a back sleeper. It provides good insulation from the ground and helps keep me warm. It blows up fairly quickly and packs relatively small. I would recommend blowing it up as full as you can get it then using the fine adjustment from there. The pad is a little on the pricey side, but when I consider how comfortable it is and how long I plan on using it, its worth it in the long run.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and quiet Everybody points to thermarest as the most popular sleeping pad. I just couldn't get past the crinkling every time I rolled over... This pad, I'm happy to say, is much quieter. And for my money, not any less warm or comfortable

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most comfortable pad ever! Bought this just before the holidays, so just got to try it out now. I had done extensive research for the best pad that would combine light weight, small volume, high R-factor, and comfort. Not only did I get all of the above, but I now find that the valve system is ingenious, and different (thank goodness) from all the other pads' valves that I have owned. The valve has two "lids." You pull up the top lid and blow into it (20-21 breaths for me to fill the small size)--air can go in but does not come out. There is a small orange button in the center of this opening. During the middle of the night, if the pad seems overfilled (i.e. too hard), open the top lid and push on the little orange button, and voila! a little bit of air is released. Close the lid again and you are more comfortable with no fuss. Then, in the morning when you want to deflate the pad, pull up on both the top and bottom lid at once, and suddenly, whoosh!--all the air comes out. Fold in the sides and roll the pad up as quickly as you want. No painfully slow rolling as air is gradually forced out as with self-inflating pads. When researching, I saw some reviewers complaining that the pad was too flat or that they could feel the ground, and concluding that the pad is not good for side sleepers. Wrong! I am a side sleeper. All I can guess is that they did not blow the pad up all the way. My suggestion is that you blow it up until no more air will go in, then lie on it and adjust the air pressure with the little orange button. When walking the AT in 2011, my partner bought a then newly-released Neo-air. The rustling whenever he moved would wake me (a light sleeper) up several times a night. The Comfort Light did not make this annoying sound. The cons? My little thin 3/4-size Nemo Zor took 6 breaths to inflate, but is not nearly as comfortable, and rolls up to approximately the same volume, so the extra breaths are hardly a con. I don't like the little stuff sacks; just as with most pads, they seem a pain to put the pad in and get it out of. I use a lightweight velcro strap instead and stuff it in a bigger waterproof bag with my sleeping quilt. The real con is the price. Sea to Summit really does overcharge. Moosejaw gave me the best sale price at the time I was looking. It's worth looking for a bargain or sale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sleeping Pad I recently purchased this pad and have used it only a couple times. So far, this thing seems awesome. It really hits the sweet spot for me between light and comfy. Also, the insulation is pretty bombproof for 3 season usage. Last weekend it was about 26F and I wasn't cold at all.
