The Salomon Women's X Ultra 4 Mid GTX Shoe is a waterproof hiking boot to keep feet protected and comfortable through all those trail miles. The mid cut height offers support around the ankle with a soft cuff that won't rub the wrong way. Whether you're on hard pack, soft trails or technical pathways, the ADV-C chassis offers stability underfoot while still remaining flexible through each footstep. The PU coated leather with breathable mesh textile lining offers durability and comfort, while a GORE-TEX membrane keeps water out. Traditional laces dial in the fit around your precious feet while a Contagrip MA outsole hangs on for plenty of grip on the various trail types.

Rated 2 out of 5 by B Dan from Gave me sore toes and blisters Besides the color is decent. I have nothing good to say about this shoe. I had a pair of GTX for many years and it was awesome. Received this as a gift this year and used it for a hike. My god the front of the shoe has too much space so my toes were sliding around and banging inside the toe box throughout the hike. Although I was using wool socks I still got blisters coz there was just too much room. It doesn’t matter how tight I tie my shoelaces. It just won’t hold my ankle at the right spot. The ankle support were also uneven as well. Right ankle hurt like hell when I was walking uphill as my the support kept on squeezing my ankle (instead of supporting). No padding. The shoe just doesn’t fit. Poorly made. Completely disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lennie&Jet from I actually really love these I am a professional dog walker in a mountain town. I put between 25-50km’s / week on my hikers. I have ordered so many different brands, tried them on and sent them right back. These felt amazing right out of the box and required no breaking in. They are nice and light and have a roomy toe box. The waterproofing (goretex) isn’t amazing so I took one star off for that. The laces are round so constantly come loose even when double knotted. That’s an easy enough fix however. I will purchase another pair of these for sure. Oh, make sure to order a full size down as it says on the webpage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SomersetHiker from Quality not as good and bad fit I had to replace my old Salomon walking boots as they had almost fallen apart - I'd had them 7 years and they have been outstanding in all that time and they fitted like a glove. I didn't realise that Adidas now own Salomon but on receipt of my new footwear it seems obvious as they certainly don't have to hiking boot quality of my last pair - more of a trainer feel to them than a serious boot, unfortunately. They're also far too wide in the foot now (why?!) so instead of them hugging my feet, my feet now slide from side to side and I now have sores on the top of my foot from rubbing following my first foray in them. I'm really very disappointed in them. What a waste of my hard earned money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by CreatingJamie from Look and feel great, but lacks durability I bought these just under a year ago and I loved them straight out of the box - I’ve worn Salomons for years and these were the best fitting pair yet and needed no break in time! With every pair of Salomons though, I always have the toe crease split and ruin the waterproofing, and this pair also had the tread wear down so quickly, I now also have a hole in the bottom of the shoe, also ruining the waterproofing. I’m super sad that this pair didn’t even last a year when other pairs have lasted much longer - I am hard on my gear as I hike 25-50km per week - and for the higher price tag I had higher hopes as well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ejwall from Comfortable but bad fit I’ve had these for two years and they’ve held up well on frequent hikes and rugged terrain. However, fit is an issue. The length is correct but the entire shoe is very spacious - the toe box is huge and the shoe can’t be laced tight enough to fit unless I wear very thick socks. I have somewhat low-volume feet but this has never been a problem with any other shoe in my life. Other than the fit they are comfortable. Wish I could return but I’ve had them too long.

Rated 2 out of 5 by C86001 from Miss the way Salomon used to make boots I have been wearing the women’s X Ultra 3 Mid GTX for YEARS — I went through four pairs. They were perfect; I don’t know why they were discontinued. I’ve also gone through two pairs of the Quest 4 GTX, which are great for winter &/or carrying heavier loads. I’m extremely hard on boots — I hike 40-50mi/week for work & I’ve always been so happy with my Salomons. I used to be able to buy any pair of Salomons in 9.5 & know they would fit & I wouldn’t have to spend forever breaking them in but wow, something changed. These are so narrow, especially the toe box. There’s no way to tighten the top enough to prevent heel slip. I much prefer the color of these to that awful blue & yellow on the X Ultra 3, but that’s about it. The materials on these feel cheap compared to older, different models, too. I’m pretty bummed that I’m going to have to find a new brand after so many years of exclusively wearing Salomons.

HOW to MEASURE

1. Place a sheet of paper on the floor and against a wall.

2. Make sure you are wearing the same socks that you would normally wear with this type of shoe.

3. Wearing these socks, stand on the sheet of paper with your foot perpendicular to the wall and your heel against the wall.

4. Then use a pen to draw a line just in front of your big toe. Repeat for both feet and take the longer distance to determine your size.

5. Using a ruler, measure the distance between the wall and the line you drew to find your size.

6. Find this measurement in Inches in the size chart above.
