I ordered a size 8 and it is tight with normal socks. With a hiking sock, they are extremely small. I have to go through the effort to return and purchase another pair in an 8.5 and hope for the best.

Took these Salomons on a 4 day hiking trip, and I fell in love with them. They are light-weight, comfortable, I did not experience any blisters (although disclaimer: I rarely do regardless), and had good grip on wet surfaces (2 days were pouring rain circumstances). The weight was a game changer for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rugged but inconsistent My walks average 4-5 miles daily on trail, sand, asphalt. I replace shoes about every 3-4 months. While this is the best show I have bought in years, the fit and quality have been inconsistent. I just bought my 4th pair. Loved my first and third. The second pair did not last and I felt the stability wasn’t there. My fourth and current pair seems to need more time to break in (quite stiff) and fit larger than previous pairs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Slipping tong ruin this shoe I am so disappointed by this model of X Utra series. I have always loved my Solomons and walk for miles in them daily. But the tongs keep slipping to the side causing discomfort and it makes the unlacing difficult. I had them as my last ones leaked after only a year. I really cannot wear them much longer and they are only a few months old.

HOW to MEASURE

1. Place a sheet of paper on the floor and against a wall.

2. Make sure you are wearing the same socks that you would normally wear with this type of shoe.

3. Wearing these socks, stand on the sheet of paper with your foot perpendicular to the wall and your heel against the wall.

4. Then use a pen to draw a line just in front of your big toe. Repeat for both feet and take the longer distance to determine your size.

5. Using a ruler, measure the distance between the wall and the line you drew to find your size.

6. Find this measurement in Inches in the size chart above.
