They are incredibly lightweight and comfortable. They aren’t bulky or stiff like other trail shoes I’ve had and the cushion is just right. Easy to put on and get off and the tread is perfect for the trails. My feet are so comfortable in these shoes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MBinGR from Nice trail shoes I like that the lugs are not super aggressive. They work great in hard packed dirt and also in sand. I did not find them to tight in the toe box at all. My arch length is longer than my foot length, meaning the widest part of my foot requires me to size up typically. In Brooks and Saucony, I consistently wear a 10. I bought these in a 10 and the Sense Ride in a 9.5.

I needed a shoe that is supportive to my back and knees with a narrower toebox than the typical supportive footwear lines. I trained and finished a half marathon trail run in these puppies and they fit the bill. No back pain, no blisters, no worries with grip. I purchased the size I usually do for running shoes and I found them to be true to size. Thanks, Salomon!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Emmief from Ankle Rubbing I really wanted to love these trail runners but they don’t work for me. They are cut too high in the heel area and pinch my Achilles’ tendon and rub my ankle bones. Also narrow in the toe box. I returned them immediately.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Emy227 from almost there, but needs work I used these shoes for hiking and have worn them on several day hikes from 10-30 km long. The cushioning is fantastic - my feet were comfortable all day, even at 30 km. The grip is okay, but certainly not the most stable. They almost remind me of the XA Elevate, which was, in my opinion, the best shoe Salomon has ever made (RIP XA elevate, I miss you). Except the grip on the elevate is unmatched. Here are my grievances/ suggestions: 1. Toe Box - the toe box is very narrow, with the apex near the centre of the foot. I found the side of my big toe was rubbing on the shoe, which caused a blister. I have never gotten a blister in a Salomon shoe before and this is my 5th pair. If the toe box was slightly wider and the peak moved slightly toward the big toe (rather than the centre of the foot), it would be perfect. 2. Foot hold - I found my foot slipping forward on the downhills no matter how tight I made the shoe. I considered sizing up to address the first point, but this made the foot hold issue worse. I think the quick lace system on the pair I got may have been faulty as well, since I noticed it often loosened up, which further caused my foot to slip. 3. Ankle rubbing - I found the back wing of the shoe and the parts that sit below my ankle to rub. This caused irritation, since I wear ankle socks to hike. If the parts around the ankle were lower, particularly the back wing part, that would be awesome! 4. The grip - as mentioned earlier, the grip was okay. If this is advertised as a trail shoe, I think Salomon should commit a trail grip. 4.5 mm lugs would be stellar. I think Salomon is really on to something with this shoe and I hope they continue to make new iterations. A lot of people use trail runners for hiking/backpacking, and I think this shoe could be a real contender for that arena. But for now, the above mentioned points make the shoe uncomfortable/ unwearable to me. Can't wait to see how this evolves though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Alapierre from Became a Believer I do admit that I have been a skeptic of some of the newer shoe technology that companies have been developing, but after putting some miles in the Pulsar Trail I am a believer. I wear a wide range of Salomon shoes from the Speed Cross to the Ultra Glide and the Pulsar Trail felt very familiar to me. I have used the shoe on a variety of terrain, from technical trails that require protection/grip to dirt roads and it has continued to prove its versatility. I am impressed with how light and nimble it feels and I like my other Salomon shoes I feel confident in it given how it fits and performs. I look forward to continuing to test this shoe while learning more about the technology behind it.

I have put together a new wardrobe to coordinate with these! No, not the athlete the other uses talk about being anymore, though I sure feel stronger and more mobile in these Pulsar Trails! It is because I am recovering from some serious injuries that my shoe being well balanced, cushioned and stable is of the utmost importance and these best fit the bill! I have 4 pairs of Salomon lined up at the door for me and these are my favorites! Thank you for making such well balanced easy to move in shoes! I am no longer in any danger of being left behind!

HOW to MEASURE

1. Place a sheet of paper on the floor and against a wall.

2. Make sure you are wearing the same socks that you would normally wear with this type of shoe.

3. Wearing these socks, stand on the sheet of paper with your foot perpendicular to the wall and your heel against the wall.

4. Then use a pen to draw a line just in front of your big toe. Repeat for both feet and take the longer distance to determine your size.

5. Using a ruler, measure the distance between the wall and the line you drew to find your size.

6. Find this measurement in Inches in the size chart above.
