The Salomon Men's Speedcross 6 GTX is a waterproof trail runner for wet weather excursions. Rated 5 out of 5 by AK Turn from Favorite outdoor shoe ever This is my second pair of Speedcross 6 GTX after a long history with the Speedcross series. The color gets compliments everywhere, and the performance of these shows on the trail (hiking and scrambling, less running) is fantastic. Great grip across all mountain surfaces. Also, the perfect grass sports shoe (I play doubles volleyball on grass in the summers). I would give the durability 5 stars, but I wear through the sole cleats around 300 miles (or 5 months of everyday use) especially on the outside 5th metatarsal area as supinate. But the rest of the shoe is bombproof, and I love the easy on, easy off lacing system. I have my next pair just out of the box, and will grab their replacement of the same when the time comes.

In each new model I sense improvements and my new Speedcross 6 Gore-Tex are no exceptions. Sure fit, quick lace-up, light weight and offering secure grip of the 5-mile wooded trail I tackle daily, sometimes as many as four times a day. This past Saturday provided lovely weather and my new Salomon's carried me twenty miles without any discomfort. I absolutely love this product line

Rated 5 out of 5 by R259 from Very good fit and grip Yes, I like them a lot! I use them for both work and hiking in the NH mountains. For work, I have an active job which requires walking regularly both indoors and occasionally outside. The downside to the shoe is the soft sole which when worn during the hot summer months, will wear quickly. This is not a knock since the shoe wasn’t meant to pound hot pavement. The soft (meaning grippy) sole however works very well on slippery trails in the NH mountains. They grip rocky surfaces well and the “lugs” provide traction when the trail gets loose or wet. I have a wide foot (E width dress shoe) and I have both the wide and normal width in the Speedcross and both work for my feet. The wide width, naturally gives me a little more room but I can fit comfortably in the standard width. I have a feeling Salomon’s may have a slightly wider last. And since this has been an exceptionally wet season in the Northeast, I can say with confidence the GTX is waterproof!

HOW to MEASURE

1. Place a sheet of paper on the floor and against a wall.

2. Make sure you are wearing the same socks that you would normally wear with this type of shoe.

3. Wearing these socks, stand on the sheet of paper with your foot perpendicular to the wall and your heel against the wall.

4. Then use a pen to draw a line just in front of your big toe. Repeat for both feet and take the longer distance to determine your size.

5. Using a ruler, measure the distance between the wall and the line you drew to find your size.

6. Find this measurement in Inches in the size chart above.
