Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great all around reasonable cost mid boot! This is the second pair that I have owned and can say without a doubt it has been the best all around mid boot that I have owned for the money. I’ve worn all 4 seasons and they have kept my feet warm and dry. Good tread and very stable. I am very satisfied with Salomon boots in general. They stand by their warranty!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lace Hook pulled off I love these boots, pulled a hook off the top when unlacing on my 1st pair. That was a bummer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good solid - but light - work boot Needed a lightweight work boot that would hold up in the rainforest here in Hawai‘i, and think this is it (have only just started to wear it in, but seems to do well in the humid climate here). Could get it in a narrow size, and the fit is great, as well as the support for feet and ankles. Glad I clicked on Moosejaw!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from For this price, you can't give up during a hike! I used the shoes twice, first time was to climb the kilimandjaro, all went well and they meet my expectations. Second time was a peak in Taiwan, after tighting my lace during the ascent, the metal hook just went off (check picture). I pricise that I'm treating my gears with care but the glue (as it is glued!) was not stong at all. This is really disapointing for a pair a shoes of this price range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around boot I bought a these at the beginning of the winter in New England and I couldn’t be happier with them. I used the them for shoveling and at a ski resort working on the snow. Water proof and warm for me, I run hot anyway. I would and will get them again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hiking boots I bought these 3 years ago and I'm still using them. For the price, I don't think these can be beat. I used to pay around half of what these cost, but I would be buying a new pair every year. These have lasted 3 years and are still as comfortable as they were when I got them. What makes these great: Outstanding grip on slick rock (and rocks in general), which is a must for backcountry hiking. Solidly built (nothing coming apart yet). Long tread life (after three years of use, they are finally worn down enough to need replacing). Other notes in support of these: Comfort is good, and they are quick to break in. They hold you steady in the trail. I'm flat-footed and I feel well-balanced in these. I have yet to roll an ankle. They are fairly lightweight. Wear & tear has far exceeded my expectations. One boot finally has a small hole wearing through on the side. But as mentioned above, nothing is actually coming apart. Only small complaints: the laces never want to stay tied. On a rigorous hike, I'll have to stop and re-tie them every few hours. During normal use, they will need re-tied after 8 hours or so. While they have decent breathe-ability, they do need aired out quite a bit by the end of the day. My feet are damp when I take them off, even during casual use. Big complaint: wet traction is not good. They are very slick, even on flat surfaces like roads. Ice is especially bad. Their dry traction is amazing, but once they get wet, be careful. After all is said and done, I highly recommend these. They have survived years of wilderness hiking in Wyoming & Colorado.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lightweight and confortable This boot had a quick break-in, seems it is very well constructed. Time will tell on the durability, but that shouldn't be an issue. I am very satisfied with this salomon boot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Transition boot I like the boot so far. It has great ankle support and was very comfortable right out of the box. I have had them 4 months and use them regularly hiking in Maine and they seem to be holding up well so far. I have noticed anything above 50 degrees F my feet sweat anything below 15 degrees F (with wool socks) my feet get pretty cold when I'm outside all day. Also the quick lace system takes some getting used to, it has a unidirectional track that does not allow the lace to loosen while inside the cleat, which is great while I am wearing them but when I take them off there is a very specific angle to pull the lace to loosen it. I am used to it now and I like it.

Do your feet get hot?

Asked by: LtHP
Hiya LtHP, thanks for your question! This boot has less mesh than most other Salomon styles so your feet might get hot. An option would be the Salomon Men's X Ultra Mid 2 GTX Boot, which feels cooler but it still has breathable Gore-Tex. Hope this helps!

The slide bar says they run a little small. But I can't find the reviews to support this. Should I go a half size down?

Asked by: msdced
Hey there! I was able to find a lot of reviews that say they run true to size, none of them state they run big. Based on previous LTR, too (the Authentic is new for this season) those also ran true to size. Remember: we offer free exchanges and returns on footwear, so minimal risk to try them out base don your regular boot size!

If you are unsure which shoe size to purchase, please follow the following steps:

1. Use a shoe box or a wall with a 90 degree angle.

2. Find a sheet of paper or a sheet of cardboard, a ruler and a pen.

3. Make sure that you are wearing the same socks that you would normally wear with this type of shoe.

4. Wearing these socks, stand on the sheet of paper and place the outside of your foot against the wall or place your foot in the shoe box with you heel wedged firmly against the back.

5. Then us your pen and ruler to draw a line just in front of your big toe. Repeat with the other foot, as right and left sizes may be different.

6. Measure the distance between the wall or the side of the shoebox and the line that you have just drawn.

7. Find this measurement in Centimeters in the size chart above.
