DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Pertex Quantum

Pertex Quantum
Pertex Quantum is lightweight, windproof and abrasion resistant. Its strength-to-weight ratio is optimized to protect your insulation and maximize loft, thus trapping more warm air. This all adds up to you being warm and cozy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pound for pound warmest jacket around. This jacket is very light, so light you would never think it could be warm. I can be in sub 30 temps all day long with this jacket and a thermal base layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I hoped it to be My 6+ year old synthetic insulator wasn't performing as well as it used to (as is to be expected), and since nowadays they run between $200 and $300 I wanted to really make sure I did my research and not just buy the puffy jacket that everyone seems to default to (you know the one!). After reading reviews countless reviews on Outdoor Gear Lab and Switchback Travel I decided to take the leap with this jacket, and I'm glad I did. It's incredibly light and warm, fits me well (size small, 5'8", 150lbs, athletic build), but I could still get another layer underneath without it being too tight. Arm mobility is fantastic (can windmill without the whole jacket riding up my torso) and the pockets are roomy enough to hold hands with another inside. It's also super light and fluffy feeling (very comfortable) and breaks the wind really well. Hood fits my head well, but it's not adjustable so YMMV. My first week with it included some rainy/windy times outdoors and it kept me warm and dry. It can zip from the top and bottom with dual zippers. I usually don't like this, but it works really well on this jacket. Makes it easier to wear a harness or answer nature's call while wearing it! The one criticism that some have is the breathability. In reality, you can't expect excellent weather resistance AND excellent breathability. For its part, I think this jacket does a good job balancing, though it's definitely weighted towards weather resistance. You can always layer something light and breathable underneath and take the jacket off if you get hot. All in all, no regrets, and I'd highly recommend this jacket to anyone who wants solid warmth, but if you're looking for something to be super active in, find something a little more breathable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best all around jacket ever made I bought this jacket as a replacement for my older Xenon X, which I beat to death over the years. I prefer the new, stronger, larger zipper on this new version, as well as the more breathable Primaloft Active insulation. The hood is improved (no more "blockhead hood!). I don't think the sleeve seals fit as well as the older version (could be this particular jacket), and I do not like that they moved the "Napoleon" breast pocket to the interior of the jacket. I used that pocket all the time on the previous model and it was easily accessible from the exterior of the coat. The new version has the zipper on the inside of the jacket, so I have to unzip my jacket every time I need to access it. Not ideal to let all the heat escape every time I open the jacket on the cold, windy summit of a mountain. Overall, this is still my go-to jacket year-round in New York. I wear it out around town as well as when I'm hiking and camping in cool to cold climates. Works exceptionally well with a down layer beneath it. I have worn my Rab Zero G down jacket under it and been comfortable in single digits, and have worn my Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer under it comfortably as well. I'm 6 ft tall and 150 pounds and bought a Large. The medium fit well except was too tight under the arms. I have that problem with most Medium clothes. Despite the extra room with the large size, it still fits well and doesn't look bulky. It fits extremely comfortably and the fabric is so soft and smooth, yet very durable and tough. Overall, this is my favorite jacket ever, and I highly recommend buying it. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I just wish that breast pocket was still accessible from the outside of the jacket...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lightweight insulated jacket This is a great versatile lightweight jacket. I've had it a few weeks now have used it a mid layer in 0f conditions and on it's own when a bit warmer. It's waterproof enough if you are caught in a shower and a very comfortable fit.
