Compact and lightweight, the Petzl Tikka XP Headlamp is a reliable lighting option for use on the trail and around the campsite. The simple, single button design makes it easy to select beam pattern, color and brightness, even while wearing gloves. The spotlight beam pattern helps light up the trail at night, and the close proximity mode is great for reading a book in the tent or cooking up a late meal. Heading out of the tent for a midnight bathroom break? Easy, just flip on the red light mode so you won't disturb your camping partners. This torch runs standard on AAA batteries, but you can also use the Petzl Core rechargeable battery units (sold separately).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for the price! Wanted a headlamp to keep in my pack on long dayhikes in case day turns into night if things go sideways. Haven't had to use this in that type of scenario, thankfully, but have tested it indoors plenty. It seems like it will definitely do the trick if we ever do need to use it. The varying brightnesses are great, and the backup, low power red light is handy to have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight headlamp I bought this a month ago and am impressed with how lightweight the headlamp is. However the highest beam does not have a very long burn time (around 2 hours) and the lower beam, while good for things like hanging around camp, is not super bright when it comes to things like night trekking. However it functions well, and the light weight makes this a worthwhile headlamp.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great inexpensive head lamp This is a great headlamp for the price. It’s just a simple light, adjusts easily and it’s bright with 3 settings. My only complaint is that it sometimes loosens while wearing it, so I have to tighten it again. Doesn’t always happen and not a big deal but just something I noticed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best all around Headlamp out there Bought as a gift for my fiancée since we are always outdoors. The features are great and is one of the best/most comfortable all around headlamps out there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great headlamp Fits well, easy to use, just as you'd expect for a headlamp I suppose. Orange strap makes it easy to find in a drawer or trunk. Both my husband and I use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I use it all the time! Having owned petzl products before this particular headlamp was exactly what I anticipated. It has plenty of lumens to light up the trail and also for use around the house and building projects. I do however, find the controls a bit confusing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good I bought this last month ultimately for an upcoming Kilimanjaro Climb (recommended by others). So I do not know how it will work at the high altitude (cold weather) but have used it at home for multiple projects (wiring and plumbing) and it is very bright and pretty comfortable. The multiple settings are really nice and the variable angle settings come in handy. For the price, it can't be beat.

My current headlamp has a bad red light, which makes it virtually useless, and I like using red lights a lot at night. Can you tell me about the quality of the light on this model, or if there's another Petzl model that has a good quality red light?

Asked by: Country_Bumpkin
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to Moosejaw! I went and double-checked with Petzl directly. Here's what they had to say, "Rocko, all of our lamps use the same 5 lumen red light. The red light mode is designed to preserve night vision, so it isn't as bright as the white light mode. The differences between the lamps are most often based off of the white light." Hope this has helped some!

Hello, I'm just wondering what kind of water resistance this headlamp has. It says nothing about any water resistance so am I safe in assuming that there's no sort of gasket keeping water out like all BDs lamps I've used?

Asked by: MeRyL
Heyo! Thanks for asking. This headlamp is under Petzl's "weather resistant" category with IXP4 water resistance. This means that although this lamp cannot be submerged in water, it can withstand a heavy rain and getting wet from time to time. Hope this helps!
