The Patagonia Women's Torrentshell Jacket is a waterproof jacket for any time there is moisture in the air. Headed to work? Grab the Torrentshell. Going for a hike? If you're not wearing it, stuff it into its own pocket and clip it to your beltloop or toss it into your backpack. At 10.6 ounces, it's pointless to leave it at home when it could save you from getting soaked in an unexpected rain. The 2.5 layer waterproof/breathable H2No® Performance Standard fabric features a 100% recycled nylon face to take on rain, sleet, even snow. Just be sure to layer up underneath if you're in colder weather. When in hotter weather, open up the pit zips to release excess heat while the front zip stays shut to keep you dry.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect protection and good fit I love Patagonia products and am not disappointed in this jacket. It is not only perfect for protecting me in the rain, especialy during our monsoons, it is attractive and fits well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! As usual, Patagonia had thought of everything. I've worn this jacket in the rain and when it's a but chilly but not cold. It fits great, packs small, and works really well to keep you dry. The bright colors help when your biking too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I bought this about a month ago, and it is the best rain jacket I’ve owned. Lightweight and good fit! Couldn’t be more happy with my purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Waterproof but suffocating The torrentshell is caught between world's. This is a jacket for a hiker, a backpacker, but also wants to be a jacket for the casual commuter. For the backpackers, it's heavier than the competition and lacks some of their features, and a serious hiker would probably be more inclined to purchase a 3 layer or something beyond the torrentshell price point. For the casual wearer, I think this might be a bit overkill. It's absolutely going to block rain but you will also drown in your own sweat. The pit zips help but for simply walking to work on a rainy day you probably don't need the water proofing and suffocation of the torrentshell. I give it 4 stars because it does do what it says it does, you get the Patagonia quality and iron clad garuntee, but I'm just not sure who the jacket is really for.

HI I am looking for a rain jacket for Dublin. I will be there from January to May. Do you think this jacket will do?

Asked by: Bridget
Hey Bridget! Great question! If you are planning on layering underneath with a cozy Aran sweater, this should be ok as far as warmth goes. If you aren't too keen on layering, I would go with something that is insulated, like TNF's Inlux Insulated Jacket: https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_The-North-Face-Women-s-Inlux-Insulated-Jacket_10317036_10208_10000001_-1_ Have a whale of a time in Dublin!

What is the actual measurement around the circumference of the bottom of the medium size jacket? I want to be sure it is big enough for layering a fleece and turtleneck underneath. Thank you!

Asked by: Sandy
Thank you for the question! The bottom circumference for the size Medium is 45 inches. I hope that is enough for your layers :)

Hey there, This Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket is considered a rain jacket and isn't insulated. Good news though! There is an insulated version, the Patagonia Insulated Torrentshell Jacket.

I plan on backpacking through SE Asia this summer ... do you think this jacket is too heavy for a warm climate?

Asked by: swyllie
HIya swyllie, thanks for your question! I would pass on the Torrentshell jacket for that purpose because its going to create a lot of perspiration. Take a look at the Patagonia Women's Stretch Rainshadow Jacket or Patagonia Women's Cloud Ridge Jacket. You can find them here: http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Patagonia-Women-s-Stretch-Rainshadow-Jacket_10300495_10208_10000001_-1_ http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Patagonia-Women-s-Cloud-Ridge-Jacket_10330310_10208_10000001_-1_ Or, if you are looking for something less technical and super light, check out the The North Face Women's Venture Jacket. Is the birch white color actually white or a light grey? I can't really tell from the online photo.

Asked by: Jess
Hey there, Jess! This jacket is definitely more white than grey...it's white with a little tinge of grey in it. Putting different words to it, while it has a grey hue, we wouldn't describe it as "light grey." These are the important subtle distinctions that make life work, don't you think? We hope this helps!
