DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

PrimaLoft insulations and fabrics

PrimaLoft
PrimaLoft was originally developed to serve as a water resistant, synthetic alternative to goose down for the U.S. Army. Since then PrimaLoft has been a leader in insulation and fabric technologies in the outdoor industry, and is used by the top outerwear and clothing brands to craft pieces that offer warmth without bulky weight, packablity, and both water resistance and breathability for all your outdoor adventures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from V NICE CLOTHING ADDITION I live in Big Sky, Montana where we believe in skipping spring this year. This parka on sale has been a clutch homie given the weather. Warm as can be with a perfectly flattering cinch around the waist. I have always been a worry-wart when ordering for size online so here’s a tip: I’m 5’4” weighing 135lbs and the small fits like a dream.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great winter coat I was looking for a good winter jacket that was a little different than the puffer ones a lot of people wear. I like the design and fit of this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket Good for cool days, but not for real cold get the tres parka for real cold. Nice fleece body liner, just wish it was in the sleeves as well. Also like the sinching waist to adjust for extra layers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super cute! My husband bought this for me, and I LOVE it so much! Not only is it super warm, but it’s cute too! My favorite feature is that can tighten it around your waste to make it more flattering. I love the length and the multiple pockets it provides. Buy this jacket! You wont regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice color, very warm Small was the perfect size. Anything smaller would have been too tight. 5’5”, 115, FYI. Worth the purchase, especially on sale. Go Moosejaw

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite jacket! I bought this jacket a month ago and it has served me so well! The size small fits great but leaves enough room for an extra layer when necessary. I love that you can opt to not cinch the jacket, and I find the double pocket feature is really helpful. This jacket is a total steal!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this coat This coat is stylish and very warm. It’s oversized, but not too big. I wore this in 15 degree weather and it kept me warm. I’ve gotten several compliments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket! This is a great jacket for all year round! Love the color, long length and "fur" inside. This probably won't be your go to jacket for when it rains or for when it snows 1-2 feet overnight. But overall, nice warm jacket that can be layered and has style.

Is this product vegan?

Asked by: Deven30
I am so sorry for the late response! Unfortunately, the lining on this Parka is made of shearling, so it will not be a vegan product. The closest option that is vegan would be the Radalie Parka. I included a link below. Hope this helps! https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Patagonia-Women-s-Radalie-Parka_10312879_10208_10000001_-1_

Really love Brown color, Whether it will have get Size S again? Or any other place I can find it?

Asked by: Tracyzhou
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Am I the only person who thinks of Sesame Street when this jacket comes up? I mean, Prairie Dawn's still around, right? I'll have to ask my niece. So, we don't get any information on any future inventory, sadly. The best bet will be to check the site periodically as we're getting new stock in daily! Hope this helps you out. Hugsies!

Is this Patagonia's version of a barn jacket? Work with horses, barn, carriages, etc and love Patagonia. Other "well known" barn jackets brands are huge

Asked by: Honneerider
Thanks for the question! The Prairie Dawn Parka is not specifically an Equestrian piece. It is possible to wear in the barn, but it will for sure show dirt and hair will get caught in the fleece. Also, you will want to layer - IE: long sleeve shirt and vest. The Parka will not ventilate well if you are super active - such as cleaning stalls at a fast past. There are just too many unknowns to give you a direct answer. It really comes down to a) is the barn heated and b) do you get warm easily. I would check out Carhartt jackets - as those are made to be more durable and rugged. I included some links below. Hope this helps a little! https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Carhartt-Women-s-Weathered-Duck-Wesley-Coat_10335058_10208_10000001_-1_ https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Carhartt-Women-s-Crawford-Sherpa-Lined-Coat_10352878_10208_10000001_-1_ https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Carhartt-Women-s-EI-Paso-Utility-Jacket_10334948_10208_10000001_-1_

Is this product windproof/resistant?

Asked by: caveman
That's a great question! Unfortunately, the Prairie Dawn Parka has water-resistant protection only. Sadly, there is nothing similar to suggest. I would check out the Patagonia Women's Mountain View Jacket as it is one of their most stylish pieces that does offer wind protection. I included a link below. I hope this helps a little! https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Patagonia-Women-s-Mountain-View-Jacket_10330470_10208_10000001_-1_

I am in between a size large and extra large. I rarely wear heavy sweaters or sweatshirts, normally just a long sleeve t-shirt or flannel. I keep reading that it runs big, but I'm so afraid it will be too small if I order the large. Recommendations?

Asked by: christy2639
Hi there, thanks for your question! If you are between sizes, I suggest selecting the smaller size. I am between a small and a medium. I tried on size small and it fit me just fine. (I tried it on with a long sleeve shirt and a thin cardigan.) Hope this helps!

What is the cold factor? What is warm to. Live in Chicago and it gets to sub zero.

Asked by: Debbie
Hiya Debbie, thanks for your question! The Prairie Dawn Jacket might be a little to thin. It is not a wind proof jacket. It has some insulation, 60 grams of Thermogreen, but not enough for bitter cold Chicago winters. How does this coat do in the snow?

Asked by: joanna
Hiya joanna, thanks for your question! This parka is water resistant but not waterproof. It should be fine during light to medium snow but it wouldn't stay dry in heavy wet snow for a prolonged amount of time. Hope this helps!
