Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lightweight, fair trade, GIANT TAG underpants My thoughts are very mixed on these Pataoniga daily hipsters. This is my first go-round with Patagonia undergarments. I am a busy mom and let's face it, one of the many things that gets neglected in this stage of life is the underwear drawer, so there was serious need! My family is in our second year of shopping ethically as possible (made in the USA, certified fair trade, or thrift) and the Patagonia brand has pretty high standards in the manufacturing of their products. And of course, these hipsters are certified fair trade. Upon opening my package, the first thing that stuck out to me (literally) was the GIANT TAG. (See photo 1) Description says "tagless for itch free comfort" but this certainly was not the case for mine! It's huge and papery and sewn right into the hem and I am scared to take scissors to it! I don't want to leave a tiny and even-scratchier tag stub, nor do I want to snag the thin fabric or damage the hem. So, the next two photos reveal the styling options: Exhibit A) the rumpled butt look. Tag tucked into underwear. Not only is this unsightly (can a girl just say she has ZERO desire for her butt too look bumpy?!) but it is uncomfortable. The tag is chafey and scratchy. Exhibit B) the brand bragging look. Just... no. Once I got past this, I was delightfully surprised at how extremely thin and lightweight they are. They feel great on and I didn't notice them a single time all day (because I tucked the tag between the underwear and my skirt). I got a size medium and I feel they run a little big. (I'm 5'8" 142 lb and have two patagonia bikini bottoms from last season that are medium.) I know these are not intended for fashion or lingerie, but I was hoping for a tad cuter of a cut. I've moved on from the thongs of my 20s to the hipster/boyshort as my go-to style. I feel like these lean a bit more toward brief than hipster. I was hoping that since a good number of Patagonia bikini bottoms are full-on cheek-baring this season that the underwear would follow suit, but no not really. (Why no pictures of any of your underwear modeled Patagonia? The barely-more-than-Brazilian-cut bottoms in your swimwear lineup are all modeled! Help us girls out!) I feel like maybe if I size down they might fit a bit better, but I'm not sure I want to run the risk of major muffin toppage. I did give my husband the final say and he likes them. Lucky for me he's into outdoorsy-functional. It's a match made in heaven. Would I buy them again? I really don't know! If someone has a magic solution for the tag issue that does not involve clothing surgery, I would probably order again in a small (if I can catch a sale) because I'm not sure I'll find a nicer material sewn fair trade. Maybe I'll branch into other Patagonia styles but to be honest, they don't look promising from an attractiveness standpoint. Some come across in photos as very granny-panty. So, anyway, too many words with inconclusive findings. You're welcome.

Women's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

• Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.

• Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).
