Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft and warm ! Bought this hat for my brother and he loved it and I ended up getting one bc of how soft and warm and not itchy it was. Perfect for Chicago weather when the wind is blowing bc it covers your neck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around amazing hat This is the most amazing hat by Patagonia. I have a large head and it's fits snug, I purchased the large/x-large. Very protective in the rain and snow. I often wore a baseball hat with a beanie, since purchasing my first duckbill I haven't taken it off, only to wear the newest one. These hats are amazing!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super Warm, yet breathable This hat is perfect, the synchilla on the inside is super soft. As warm as the hat is it’s also very breatheable for running, hiking during the colder months. I also have a melon of a head (7 1/2+) and the Larger size fits well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from favorite hat this hat looks great, fits perfect (ordered a large, my cap size is 7 & 3/8"), is extremely weatherproof (rain, wind snow, etc.) and works well on the bike and off. i worked as a bike courier and now dog walker in the northeast U.S., so i put this hat through a lot of abuse! no complaints here, in fact i just bought 2 more in different colors. i prefer it to traditional wool cycling caps, breathes better and doesn't get that musty smell after a day in the rain. multiple people have complimented me on it as well, and it can be hard to dress weather appropriate without looking like a dork. highly recc'd!

How do you use the loops to hold the ear flaps up?. Shouldn't there be buttons or something?

Asked by: Bugless
Hey there Bugless, Great question....I just took a gander at this hat myself, and it does not have anything to fasten the ear flap loops to. Very strange indeed. Perhaps they are more for looks than for function? Sorry I could not be of more help!

What are the size specifications for Small and Small/Medium?  In the Navy/Gray combination, what color is the underside of the bill?  What do the two loops attach to?

Asked by: Mary
Thanks for the question! The bill underneath is Navy Blue and the loops are Smolder Blue. The loops are for securing them up onto the hat if you don't want to cover your ears. The full circumference is 22.83" for the size Small. Hope this helps!
