The Patagonia Men's Ultralight Down Hoody is a hooded down jacket for mid- and outer-layer warmth. Along the trail, in the mountains and sometimes in between, temperatures change quickly so you better come prepared. The jacket is called ultralight because it is the lightest down jacket made by Patagonia and it even packs down super small, right into the left hand pocket. Sleep with it under your head as a pillow, hide it in your pack for later, or just throw it on when a chill whips through the land. The 800 fill power European goose down surrounds your upper half with a cozy softness and the regular fit allows for layers under and over. Cinch down the hem cord, tuck any extra items into the pockets and off you go to the next camp.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Pertex Quantum

Pertex Quantum
Pertex Quantum is lightweight, windproof and abrasion resistant. Its strength-to-weight ratio is optimized to protect your insulation and maximize loft, thus trapping more warm air. This all adds up to you being warm and cozy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Patagonia makes solid stuff. I really like lightweight down coats and I have looked at several before buying. The hood is perfect for time when you for get a hat. The nylon material is pretty thin so if you are skiing or hiking through brush this might not be the best selection, unless you plan on wearing a soft-shell or gore-tex like layer of the top.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really versatile! I purchased my hoody about a month ago and am very satisfied. It works great over a tee down to about 40 and pairs great with my down sweater if it gets colder. I bought the sweater w/o a hood, so the pair work great under a shell in snowy conditions. Packs down great in my carry on backpack when I travel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra light, super warm. I've been looking for a lightweight, warm, packable jacket that wouldn't make me look like a total dork around town, but yet durable enough to take on the colder morning in backpacking trips. This jacket is it. I am amazed as to how warm it is for its weight. It's got impressive wind resistance as well. I wore it in the city on a particularly cold morning with nothing but a thin dress sweater underneath and did not feel a thing. I also love the hoody, it adjust so you can cinch it down to your liking, which is great since other jackets I have suffer from "hood blowdown" when strong winds hit you in the face. It packs into its own pocket so you can put it away when not needed. It'll even serve as a packable travel pillow. I am 5'8ish, 170 lbs and the medium fits well, not fitted. Pretty happy with this purchase considering buy other option was the Arctery'x Cerium LT, which goes for us$170 more than what I paid for this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for a variety of weathers! I bought this jacket in August during a Patagonia sale. I was going back and forth between the the Ultralight Down Hoody, and the Down Sweater w/ hood, and I am glad that I went with the UL. I personally liked the look of the UL over the DS. I was told by a retailer that the DS is about 10-15% warmer than the Ultralight. That wasn't a huge deterring factor for me. I have a different coat for snow and extremely frigid weather. This jacket is perfect for fall through winter weather. I live in the Mid Atlantic area and our winters can get a little nasty, and I have found this jacket to be able to withstand it. I often wear this jacket with just a t-shirt underneath in < 40 degree weather with no issues. I'm a larger build at 6'3", 230lbs and the XL fits me perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from an older person who now looks hip -- maybe I already had purchased a Patagonia puffy vest a couple years ago, but I decided to look hip in colder weather. Being on the short side, now shrunk to 5'5", I was concerned that the sleeves would be too long in a large. Patagonia thinks everyone is slim, but I need the large to fit over my tummy. Before the purchase I did two things 1) went into the center of the universe Moosejaw store on Woodward Avenue in Birmingham, MI to check on the sleeves -- they didn't have the hoody but they did have the same jacket without, and the sleeves were perfect 2) checked with my son in Bozeman to make certain I would be hip. Then I ordered the hoody in black online during the anniversary sale. Extremely satisfied. It's super comfortable, truly ultralight, because of global warming we now have Nashville type weather in Michigan so it is always warm enough and I am hip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The small improvements make a huge difference I have had multiple ultralight hoodies. I was very pleasantly surprised when this one came out and as usual made the purchase. Upon receiving the greatest jacket I thought it couldn't get better - but t has! The top of the zipper where your chin rests is now made of a fleece like material to protect from rash or burn. That makes a world of difference. I look forward to future improvements and iterations.
