Product Description Item No.   10281805

The Patagonia Men's Stormdrift Parka is a warm winter coat for urban adventures, from battling your way to work, to shoveling the drive, and helping the neighbor dig out their car. The long length with drop tail hem provides plenty of coverage so you can walk the streets while protected from rain, snow and sleet thanks to the 2-layer H2No® shell. The exterior is also coated with a durable water repellent finish, preventing any moisture from soaking into the top fabric. As you zipper up you'll notice a right interior chest pocket as well as a napoleon pocket on the left, which hides behind the snap-shut storm flap. A rib-knit collar and cuffs are hard to see while being worn, but you'll definitely notice them as you snuggle in against the winds. Throughout the jacket you'll be insulated with high-loft, 150g polyester insulation, keeping cold temperatures at bay.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not that warm I would have thought this parka would have been warmer.Just a light liner for warmth I also didn't like the huge collar with front flaps way too big.

Folks, Do you think this parka is warm enough for 10-20F temperatures in Michigan?

Asked by: Psaraswa
Hey there, Psaraswa. First and foremost, I 100% agree with Alice in Wonderland’s sentiment that warmth is a “subjective thing.” Therefore the below is my experience with the Stormdrift Parka since purchase. Context: 6’3” 210 lbs. Moderately Athletic Male / Parka Size: Large I purchased the Stormdrift Parka last weekend and have been wearing it since in Chicago winter weather (current temperatures since purchase ranging from the mid-teens to low forties Fahrenheit with wind and winter precipitation). I personally run a little hot at homeostasis and prefer my jackets to walk the thin line between warm and perspiration, particularly when active. The Stormdrift Parka has performed exceptionally well thus far in that metric; whether I’m moving, standing still, or transitioning from outdoors to in. I stay warm without breaking a sweat or having to immediately shed the layer once I step indoors (huge plus for me). This being said, the Stormdrift is noticeably cooler than the down jacket I reserve for bitter cold days (temperatures below 10F). Where the Stormdrift really shines is its wind resistance; a major factor in... the Windy City. The Stormdrift acts as an excellent protective shell to the unpredictable bone chilling gales that assault me while walking to the store, waiting for a bus, or scraping winter's vomit from my car. So to answer your question more directly, I believe the Stormdrift Parka performs well based on my experience in the similar temperatures asked. While it is not my warmest coat, it stands up remarkably well to wind and moisture and keeps me at a (what I consider) comfortable level of warmth. As Alice in Wanderland also stated, this jacket would pair well with a fleece layer, hat, and gloves on colder days. I hope this helps!
