Rated 3 out of 5 by from runs small Order at least a size up. Runs Extremely small in the waist. Normally take a small in Patagonia bottoms and a 32 in everything else. 32 Way TooTight!!!. Trying a 34 next - We'll see . . . . .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good shorts Worn these shorts for almost 20 years and just bought my 6th pair. Patagonia has changed the waist. I have worn a 36 for all of my shorts. Had to return these and get a 38. I have noticed Patagonia has done this with a few other things from them. All and all good shorts just size up when ordering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Killer classic shorts I was very happy to see a color in these shorts I didn’t own. I have a few pairs over 15 years old and they are still great to wear. 5” shorts are great if you have ripped legs, show them off right in a pair of Patagonia stand up shorts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shorts They have plenty of large and medium pockets. I used them in a hiking trip across Canada. The are made with good weight cotton material, had to collect every color...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These shorts age like a fine wine- yeehaw! I bought these for my boyfriend to replace the ones that finally ripped after 20+ years of use. He LIVES in these shorts in the summer - like a virgin with a chastity belt (except to shower and boogie). He finally got over his fear of being naked, but if you're a never nude or you want to imitate Chuck Norris in action pants - then these are the shorts for you! JK- but seriously they're very durable, great quality and he loves the cut, the amount of looseness, and the size of the pockets - they all hide his "thunder"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Shorts Ever I've been rocking the stand-up shorts for half a decade and they have proven to be very durable. Easily the best pair of shorts I've ever owned. They definitely have a customer for life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still great after all these years The stand-ups are still the industry standard for shorts designed for years of service. Uncompromising quality, solid looks, and a great fit.

can a measurement be made from the waist of one of these given the conflicted reports on sizing?

Asked by: Greg
Hiya Greg, thanks for your question! The short has a 5 inch inseam and a 15 inch outseam (from the waist to the bottom of the hem). The measurements were taken from a size 34 short. Hope this helps!

Apologies, meant actual measurement of the waist itself, preferably from a tagged 32"

Asked by: Greg
Hiya Greg, thanks for your question! Size 32 waist measures 16 inches flat, 32 inches around. Hope this helps!
