DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Back padding ruins clothes The back padding mesh is really rough and ruins the clothes, piling the fabric of cotton t-shirts, especially on the lower back. really disappointing. I’ve had previous generations of the refugio and never had this issue.

What is the intended use for the stitched-down straps on the outside, like along the word PATAGONIA on the left and mirrored on the right?

Asked by: Dave
Hey Dave! Intended purpose? They don't really state, but I can tell you what I have used those straps for and what I have seen others use it for: I have personally used it to thread my towels / cloths through. Wet on one side, dry on the other side. I have also seen people hang their quick release clips that they use to hang items at camp. I've hung my camp shoes from the straps. You want to definitely limit the weight that you are hanging from the straps so you don't weaken the seams / create holes in your pack. You also don't want to offset the comfort of your pack by having heavy stuff way far from your body. Hope that helps and gives you ideas!
