Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I bought this for my husband, who loves it. Sleeves are a bit on the longer side but the material is great and it’s a fantastic jacket for spring.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features! Love this jacket! It’s fits well and looks great. Keeps me dry and warm, but not too warm. Perfect regulator piece. Already got compliments on it. I’m 6’2 225 and XL fits great in all areas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Amazing My brother lives in his 4+ Year-old stretch-woven 100% polyester Patagonia Slopestyle hoody, and since his zipper is broken and the front is full of holes from being used as a work-jacket, i have combed the 'net for a suitable replacement, but every hoody i could find was somehow lacking in quality or features-- Until now! What the heck is this hoody? It's not exactly a softshell, it isn't just a fleece either, nor is it a baselayer. It really doesn't fit into any categories, & hence is free from any of those limitations. I have pushed this jacket really hard, trying to get it to fail as an outer layer against freezing wind, & trying to get it to fail as a midlayer in warmer weather, seeing if i can get it to overheat. This hoody works great as an outer-layer in cold, dry weather, in blowing wind & light rain & snow. It doesn't absorb much water even when completely soaked, & the inner brushed fleece bricks (like the legendary R1) always seem to feel dry. It also does a decent job as a wind-breaker, though obviously it's not completely wind-proof by any means, it is more wind-resistant than any of my fleeces, even Polartec Wind-Pro. In fact it's more wind-resistant than my Arc'teryx Acto FL, which is more of a softshell than the R1 Tech. It also works great as a midlayer. I thought being very wind-resistant it must lack breathability. Not so. Its breathability keeps a nice thermostatic equilibrium as an insulation layer, and the channels between the fleece bricks insulates better than i would have thought possible. The soft fleece bricks are comfortable against the skin, and you could definitely wear it by itself against the skin as a warm-up running jacket or something. It's so light, stretchy, breathable, comfy, and packs down flatter than any of my (too many) fleeces, including the R1 itself - the R1 Techface seems to have slightly less lofty bricks than my other grid-fleeces. Last, it looks sweet, almost dressy, with the little spaces between the bricks creating almost a pinstripe face pattern. To be clear, it's not a printed-on design or anything, it's just like the pattern on the R1 fleece only a bit more visible. The FIT!!! It says "slim", but it actually it has a very roomy & comfortable fit without being baggy. It's a modern, well-engineered fit - not too loose, but not too tight, either. Some new jackets make you feel & look like you're wearing a corset. This is a much more flattering, V-shaped silhouette. The hood and hem feature full adjustability, including a halo-cord that lets the hood move with your head, giving you unobstructed peripheral vision. The hood looks cool too, with its tastefully sized brim, no one is going to ask you where your snorkel went. The hemlock cord-pulls are in the handwarmer pockets, and all 3 pockets are spacious and zip closed. The cuffs are elasticized Arc'teryx-style (without thumbholes). They're nice and snug against your forearms, so if you pull them up, they'll stay put. This hoody is the future of the hardfleece, softshell hoody. An absolutely phenomenal jacket, probably the most versatile one i have ever seen. In this world of compromise it is wonderful to find a piece of equipment like this... The jacket is bad like (((WOW))) Thanks, Patagonia...

Is the hood on this helmet compatible?

Asked by: JAWN
Thanks for the question! Yes, the Men's R1 TechFace Hoody is helmet compatible in that it fits under the helmet. The R1 series all go under the helmet. Only the Patagonia shells will go over the climbing helmets. Hope this helps!
