The Patagonia Men's Lightweight Crankset Jacket is a lightly insulated, packable jacket for cool, mild weather. Pack it into it's own pocket and use it as a pillow for the road trip to the next trail, and pull it on when you reach the trailhead to start your first steps into the backcountry. It's early morning and you need a buffer from the chill and 40g of Thermogreen™ insulation delivers. A stowable hood stays out of the way when there just isn't a use for it and the back vent increases breathability when you're huffing it mid-hike. Finished with a durable water repellent, light rains are no bother, beading up and rolling off your back.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and Comfortable!!! It's a great jacket for autumn/winter. It would be too warm for summer. Size is a perfect fit for me. I like the hood can be just zipped into collar when you don't need it, great for backpacking. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and well-fitted I had been looking for a spring jacket for some time to no avail and was so happy I finally ordered this on a whim. It fits perfectly and serves any occasion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for! I bought this about two weeks ago before a trip out to Maryland. During this week, it went from snow, cold light rain and warm (50-60 degree days). I do not think I took this jacket off during that time. Of course, when its colder, you'll need some layer. If you're looking for a lightweight jacket (especially for the midwest) look no further...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light jacket in extended sizes I needed a winter appropriate jacket that carries into spring for a friend who is on the shorter and smaller size. I so appreciated that this one came in an XS. I’ve had the hardest time finding something that would fit him and this one does the job! Super wearable so I’m sure he’ll get a lot of use from it and now he gets to rock my gift when he’s in Scotland later this year. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for cool weather travel I bought this coat for my trip to Lisbon Portugal and Seville Spain during the month of January. It is an excellent travel coat - it packs well, protects from the wind, and the zippers are really handy because the reduce the risk of losing important travel papers. I liked it so much that I am considering buying it for my son.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket that travels well This was the main jacket that I used on a trip to the Iberian peninsula during early January - Lisbon and Seville. It kept me warm, dry and it is very good looking. All three pockets have zippers and that is very useful when you are traveling with papers - e.g. passport - that you need to keep handy and do not want to lose. I did not try the hood yet but I am sure it will be very useful when I need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Jacket that Cranks! Do not be fooled by the lightweight nature of one of Patagonia's best jackets. The Crankset is a stand alone warm layer to throw on when I walk my dog every morning, who of course barked approval when I put it on; or to wear underneath a rain/windbreaker. Fits perfect, great colors. (When I win the gift card, guess what I'm buying another of?)

Is the noveau green actually green? It looks grey on your website. Thanks.

Asked by: Justme
Hiya Justme, thanks for your question! It is a grey green mix (slate green), not a true grey. Sorry for the confusion!

is it too warm to wear as everyday jacket in spring ?

Asked by: Wendy
Thanks for the question! It may be a little warm on some days later in Spring, but it would work well in early Spring - especially in colder, wetter climates. I personally would wear it in late Fall, early Spring. But everyone's body temperature runs different. If you are naturally a cold person, this jacket will be perfect!
