Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really nice jacket I bought this jacket couple months ago and I kept wearing it during the cold winter break. Overall it's a really warm and comfortable jacket. The details are really good like the inside zip and the fleece. Also there are couple things I need to say need to improve l. Firstly is that the jacket looks little bit clumsy and heavy. Secondly, the jacket is really easy to store the scent from the environment like after I cooked all the smell of food is on the jacket. Really hope they can fix it in the future. But it's still one of my favorite winter jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Warm and water resistant Picked this up after trying out the Nano Storm Jacket from Patagonia. This one out performs the later in terms of warmth. Although the Glacier Jacket isn’t marketed with H2NO it did stand up to some light rain as the water beaded up and slid right off. Love the warmth, was comfortable in just a t-shirt walking around in 27 degrees F.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Technical jacket as casual jacket Received my Patgonia Jackson Glacier jacket today and I'm very happy with it. I think Patagonia gave got this 'technical jacket as casual jacket' thing just right. the cut is great, slim so that it isn't boxy but not two slim that you can't layer underneath. The sleeves aren't too long which is a criticism I sometimes have of Patagonia clothing and they have an internal sleeve to keep the weather out. The jacket is well crafted and I'm pleased with the quality. We are having an early Spring cold snap in my part of Australia so I'll enjoy wearing this jacket before putting it away in anticipation of our 2018 Winter. I purchased a medium and the jacket fits true to size. Buy it.

How water proof is this coat? I have the down hoodie and it’s pretty bad in rain. Curious if this would do well in a down pour. Thanks!

Asked by: Crafty wizard
Hiya Crafty wizard, thanks for your question! Both the lining and the outer shell of this jacket has a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish, which repels light rain and snow and decreases drying times. It probably couldn't handle many down pours. You would need to pair it with a hard shell jacket for those occasions. Hope this helps!

Two questions: 1. Are the wrists opening adjustable in any manner, e.g. velcro, or are they simply elastic like what I currently have on my Patagonia down sweater. 2. How compressible is this? A picture would be worth 1000 words!

Asked by: PaulF
Hiya Paul F, thanks for your question! This jacket has a tapered cuff, not elastic like the Down Sweater. It is tapered towards the end of the sleeve, so it fits a little more snug than the elastic cuff. There is no velcro. It is very similar to the sleeve and cuff on the Patagonia Men's Nano-Air Hoody. It has 600 down fill so it is compressible but not as much as the regular Down Sweater. Hope this helps!

Would this be suitable to snowboard in?

Asked by: Matt
Hiya Matt, thanks for your question! This is a causal jacket for the coldest of winter conditions. You would probably find it too warm to snowboard in. A better option for you is the Patagonia Men's Rubicon Jacket (https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Patagonia-Men-s-Rubicon-Jacket_10343812_10208_10000001_-1_) Hope this helps!

What is the temperature rating for this coat?

Asked by: Mike
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Ah....the temperature rating question. That old chestnut. So, for the most part, jackets are not temperature rated because there are several factors that affect the temp. This includes wind, humidity, activity level....not to mention the fact that warmth is a subjective thing. That is, it's unique to every person. What's warm to me might be freezing to another. BUT, have no fear...while there is no industry standard for measuring the temperature of the jacket, we can still help you out! So, this jacket has 600 fill power recycled down has been gathered from reclaimed down products, it's windproof AND waterproof! With that, I think you'll be fine with this jacket on for those cold Chicago winter months! Hope this helped you out. Hugsies!
