The Patagonia Men's Hi-Loft Down Hoody is a down insulated jacket built for warmth against cold winter days. City streets to woodsy trails, 600 fill power down has been packed inside a 100% recycled polyester ripstop shell to keep your body warm against the coldest of days. The hem falls to the hip and a regular fit allows you to pull it on over layers, or your favorite woolly sweater. The shell has been treated with a DWR coating, so as the snowflakes fall and melt upon your shoulders, the moisture beads up and rolls right off, never having a chance to soak into the delicate down on the inside. Zippered hand pockets are there for warming your hands or just hanging onto mittens, while the inner chest pocket allows you to stuff the whole jacket inside, ready for the next cold trip.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

FEATURES of the Patagonia Men's Hi-Loft Down Hoody

  • Full-length center-front zipper with hooded zip-through collar
  • Two zippered handwarmer pockets; one internal zippered chest pocket self-stuffs and has a carabiner clip-in loop
  • Low-profile cuffs sit soft on the arm and keep the sleeves secure

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Patagonia Men's Hi-Loft Down Hoody is great!! Extremely light and makes you think it won't keep you warm but handles wind and rain too. Easy to pack too! Great quality! Stylish too! Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Puffy Puff Nice simple casual puffy down hoody jacket. Warm, loose, and functional. This is definitely puffier than the stupidly named "Down Sweater" and the "Nano Puff", if you want a tight "Lo-Loft" jacket, this isn't it. Like the minimal design with the simple hood and a few actually usable pockets. This isn't one of those specially designed to hang upside down from a cliff, but then who spends a majority of their time hanging upside down? The spellchecker says that "hoody" isn't a real word.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product I bought this a few weeks ago, and haven't run into any issues so far. I'm 6'0", about 145 and a medium is perfect arm length and leaves enough room for layering. With a sweater on underneath, I've felt comfortable outside in negative windchill no problem. The pockets are pretty warm if you don't have gloves, but for really cold stuff it's probably a good idea to have a light glove. The drawstring for adjustability is very good. Lots of storage potential in the inside pocket as well. One thing that I did notice initially is little down feathers sticking out that I could pull out, not really a big deal but it does happen. I'm sure it will slow down over time. All in all, very warm jacket.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Awful fit. I wanted a warmer option than my Down Sweater and thought this would be great. Patagonia only seems to sell these online, so I wasn’t able to try it on before buying, but the guy at the Seattle store told me it would fit the same as the Down Jacket. Turns out it fits nothing like the Down Jacket. It is a few inches longer and much wider in the torso. I ended up buying the Patagonia Bivy jacket instead and am sending this back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat I bought this a month ago and so far it’s perfect for the cold Chicago weather. It arrived quickly and is very comfortable and fits to size. I’m really happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat for the warmth! This was the warmest coat I have ever owned! I would recommend it to anyone who needs extra warmth and loves the light weight of down! It even kept me warm on Mt. Kilimanjaro@

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expected a little more detail from Patagonia While I like this jacket very much, I guess I just expected slightly more attention to detail from Patagonia, such as fleece-lined hand warmer pockets and a fleece lined collar or at least where the zipper hits your chin. That's not to say it's not a great, warm, lightweight down jacket (and those underarm gussets actually do provide great range of motion), it's just that when I see the after-Christmas sales at places like Eddie Bauer where you can get a nearly identical jacket with more thoughtful details at a quarter of the price, it has me wondering if the Patagonia version was really worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! I bought this for my 20 year old, college son. He loves it! Loves having the hood, and loves that it is warm yet lightweight. I purchased the forge gray color and it is a great darker gray color.

Im a 38in chest 5'08/165 lbs. Im stuck between a medium or a large. I will probably wear a fleece under it as well. Should I go for the large to have a little extra room or will that be too much room?

Asked by: brian
Hiya Brian, thanks for your question! Unless you want a big and baggy fit, I would recommend a size medium. It has a regular fit, which is good for layering. Hope this helps!

WHat is the difference between this and the down sweater? Is it more than the hood? How much more bulky is it than the down sweater? People seem to be more passionate about the original down sweater.

Asked by: CKLA
Hiya CKLA, thanks for your question! The Hi-Loft Down Hoody is a casual around town jacket. It will be way warmer than the Down Sweater Hoody. It has 177 grams of 600 fill down, while the down sweater has 104 grams of the 800 fill. It is definitely more bulky. The Down Sweater Hoody is a lighter option for chilly to mild temperatures or winter activities. It is warmer than it looks, however, it is not warm enough for most people in bitter cold weather. Some people who "run hot" find it warm enough for very cold temperatures. Hope this helps!
