Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wear it everyday I bought this as a base layer for a snowboarding trip and couldn't have been happier. Very warm and comfortable against the skin, but still light and breathable. I literally wear it everyday now, and I got home from my trip 2 weeks ago... too cozy to take off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the warm ticket Looking for a warm layer? Look no further. This base layer is gold. Using it on the daily at work in 15 or lower degree weather. Nice, light and best of all warm. Did I mention black is my color, so not only am I warm...but I look reeeallll good. 100% recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from provides good winter protection Heavy duty capilene provides good baselayer frigid weather protection but prefer heavy duty merino wool products which unfortunatley are available only in midweight. Merino products feel better and are more resistant to odor than capilene.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, just a bit 2 hot for me I have worn Capilene in the past, which is actually Polartec’s super lightweight powergrid fleece. I have owned a variety of tops, bottoms, balaclavas and beanies. If you’re in a super super cold area, buy these. If you’re in a sorta cold area, I would say buy something else. I run hot, and these kept me plenty warm while sleeping in a not so warm sleeping bag. I woke up at times sweating. Forget about walking across town in the top: I sweat like a pig. The less warm Pat base layers were to baggy for me. These use to be called EW (Expedition Weight), and fit rather snug, which I was totally into. The Balaclava was just the right snugness. When Patagucci changed to TW (Thermal Weight), the top and bottom were a bit baggier and stretched out a bit quicker, and the balaclava was tighter. The beanie got a patch rather than Patagonia stitched in black on black (for that color beanie) that was awesome. My personal opinion: Sitting still or sleeping in freezing cold weather: buy. Walking 5 miles in the rain wearing these items under rain gear: buy something else. In my experience, after being washed, they didn’t dry quickly at all. That was the EW version, maybe the TW version is different. I think it’s time for Patagonia to start testing newer versions of Polartec out for this item, especially for an item at this price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy I love this shirt. Fits perfect, snug and warm. Looks very athletic. I used some rewards dollars that I saved up to purchase this. When I tried it on in the store I knew I was going to get every color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great base layer Wore this fly fishing in 20 degree weather. Barely noticed the cold

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great warm baselayer Surprisingly lightweight and actually pretty good-looking on its own. I bought it for warmth, and it delivered. Works great under a windproof layer

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Spoiled and disappointed I had become used to Capilene 4 and should have listened to the other reviews. The current Capilene crew is thinner, not as warm and fits different than Capilene 4. Please bring back the prior version.
