Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shorts! Really comfortable, quick drying shorts. The quality is very good and I like the slightly slimmer profile of these. Only negative is they lack a back pocket, which the original Baggies do have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Maybe not the sturdiest hiking shorts, but great lenghth, light and quick drying, does not cling wet to the thighs, long enough for sitting down, short enough for activity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like ‘em. Fit is a little tighter than regular baggies. Really like the quality of material, and Patagonia’s workmanship is second to none. Wish they were a little looser, but that’s more about my fit than the quality of the product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I really want to like these shorts I’ve been using all sorts of different shorts for hiking over the years. Ranging from thin rerunning shorts to military cargos. I’ve used swim trunks and light weight & loose fishing pants. In recent years I was on a search for an all in one solution that would be light weight and durable. After lots of research looking at all my favorite brands I wasn’t satisfied with what they offered, until I came across the baggies. When I saw they had a lightweight version I knew I found the right ones. I really like the straight leg look and the material. It was quick dry and could be used for swimming while rugged at the same time. I picked the grey color in a medium. I’m 5’10 170lbs 32” waist and with regularly muscular glutes and legs. I The product arrived and it was very well built. The material looked really nice and th quality of the inner liner was superb. I tried them on and they felt nice and firm. Maybe a little tight I thought at first. Not around the waist but in the legs. After wearing them around the house for a few minutes I felt a numbing pain in my legs. The elastics in the mesh liner were too tight I think. Otherwise the elastic is very comfy in feel with running friction. When I would lift my legs as if climbing a rock at a right angle, they would pull a bit. I would have to tuck them up my leg to make the move mor comfortable. I’ve tried stretching out the elastic since by leaving it as wide as possible on a hook and this has helped. But the elastic is really good so it doesn’t stretch it much. When I get a bit sweaty running it makes it even harder to lift the leg without creating tension along the pant leg. That would be my only complaint. The quality is great and so is the style, but the fit is a bit tight, even based on the correct sizing. I wouldn’t want to go large because it may be too wide and baggy so I will live with this size and see how they stretch out over time. Did I finally find the perfect hiking shorts that I was looking for? Maybe. They are very close so I hope they do end up fitting better. Maybe losing a bit of fat on the legs will make them just right. : )

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice short I own the original baggies in a 5 inch inseam. I have fairly thin legs and wanted to check these out so I ordered them. The fit was superb, looked great, and were a nice light pair of shorts that would have been solid for summer. Ultimately two things led me to return them. One was the fact that I like to wear a pair of boxer briefs underneath. These, unlike the original baggie, have a slightly tighter fit around the butt area and led to limited mobility (no stretch). Also I think the mesh might be a bit tighter as well. The other was the fact that they were made of a ripstop polyester vs. the 100% (supplex) nylon and didn't feel as sturdy as the original baggies. I felt like I would have to worry about them a little more on rocks and rougher terrain. If those are not deal breakers for you, they are awesome. I still gave them four stars because while they weren't perfect for me, they would be for many. I'm am generally a 30" waist (5' 10", 150lbs) and a small in both the baggies and baggies light with the light being a bit more snug.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Satisfied Although I got these in early spring when it is too cold to wear shorts (for the most part), I've been able to wear them a few times and I'm so happy with them. I can't wait to wear them all summer!

My waist varies between 33 and 34. Most of my clothes are 34 though. Should I go with a Medium or a Large? I am 5'10" 185

Asked by: Taylor
Hi Taylor, thanks for your question! Based on your description and the fit of the short, I would recommend size large. Hope this helps!
