The Patagonia Black Hole 60L Duffel is a travel duffel that will protect your gear from bumps, bruises, and moisture. At 60 liters, this decent sized hauler is just what you'll need for a weekend to week long adventure, as long as you're mindfully packing on those longer trips. It all starts with the incredibly tough, 900D polyester ripstop with TPU laminate, which is also finished with a durable water repellent. It stands up to abuse from baggage handlers and turnstiles and is also highly weatherproof. The u-shaped zipper opens up to a whole bunch of space for you to jam-pack your clothing into, and there is even interior compression straps so you can do stuff in that extra fleece that you just HAVE to bring. Under the lid are two mesh zippered pockets for small items like toiletries and the side has a zippered pocket as well. On the exterior is a single zip stash pocket, daisy chains for lashing extra gear, and plenty of haul handles. My favorite parts of this bag are the removable shoulder straps for backpack-style carry and the fact that when your trip is over, the whole bag stuffs into its own pocket. Easy storage under the bed until the next trip rolls around.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Big bag, odd shoulder straps This bag is lightweight and a good size. However. I found the shoulder straps awkward and uncomfortable. Carrying a bag this large just by the hand straps is not feasible for any significant distance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Works just as I intended it to! I bought it for a trip to Colorado and I can use it for carry on or for occasional car camping . It feels rugged while also looking stylish !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from He loves it! I bought this for my fiance because he doesn't have a nice duffel for traveling and is always using my black hole duffel. We both love that you can either strap it on as a backpack or carry it by the handles. It even has a padded bottom to give some cushion between anything in your bag and the ground. Feels super rugged and it's great that its water resistant!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality and Pretty! I am loving this bag. Very well made (of course) and easy to travel with. I debated between the 60 and the 90L and glad I went with the 60. Surprisingly roomie. The fold up pouch is a total bonus for storage at home too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much space! I bought this for an upcoming trip. I have the biggest black hole bag and didn't need that much space. However, this one was perfect! It is just big enough to fit everything you need but not too big to take up space. I was surprised by how much fit inside - the straps keep it functional for travels so you don't have to lug it over your shoulder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very functional Great bag, I packed for five days in Japan in it no shoes tho. Perfect for a carry on. One down side I could find is it needs one more pocket maybe on the top for quick access like passport and money. I love this bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black Hole 60L -- aka best duffel ever!! 60L feels like more than enough space inside the Patagonia Black Hole 60L duffel! Packing for a week or a weekend, this carry-on sized bag is the way to go. Weather-resistant construction and backpack-wearing-ability is a must. But above all, Patagonia's Ironclad Guarantee, customer service, and fair-trade practices put this bag--and company--on a whole different level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect weekender or packable travel bag Fits a lot of stuff for a small package. The 60L stores nicely in its built in pocket for use as an extra bag while traveling. A great convenience feature is the option to use it as a backpack for travelling on trains or planes. I own three Patagonia Black hole Duffels; a 60L, 90L and 120L and love all of them.

Will this be good as a carry-on bag on the airplane?

Asked by: Marci
Hiya! Carry on size limits can vary from airline to airline, so you would want to double check their limits to make sure this bag would work for you. The dimensions of the Patagonia Black Hole 60L Duffel are 23.5" x 11" x 13".

how do you attach backpack straps

Asked by: spdrake
Hiya spdrake, thanks for your question! Slide the narrow side of the rectangular, plastic fixture attached to the strap through the plastic D-ring attached to the bag. Once the piece is all the way through, turn the piece that is attached to the bag sideways so that it is the same direction as the fixture on the bag. Give the strap a tug, and they should be secure!
