Opting-in to Moosejaw Rewards:
All users must accept these terms and conditions and create an account with Moosejaw to opt-in to the program and earn, accrue, retain and redeem Moosejaw Reward Dollars (MJ$). The program is FREE to join and membership is ongoing until or unless the user requests to be removed or is removed due to abuse of the program. Users can opt-in to the program while checking out on Moosejaw.com or at one of our stores or at any time within 30 days of purchase to accrue the MJ$ earned on that purchase. Once opted-in to the program, MJ$ will earn and accrue for redemption as described below until the MJ$ expire or the user leaves the program.
All information collected and used to facilitate the Moosejaw Rewards program is directly related to the program's ability to provide value to the customer. A customer opting-in to the Moosejaw Rewards program is a separate action from establishing a user profile as a result of making a purchase.
The program opt-in requirement was added on August 6th, 2019. Existing program members prior to that date must still formally opt-in and accept the terms and conditions to continue to retain, earn and redeem MJ$. Pre-existing program members that fail to opt-in prior to June 28, 2020 will be removed from the program, and any unused MJ$ will be voided. We really, really don't want to that to happen, so please opt-in or we'll feel terrible.
Leaving Moosejaw Rewards Program:
You may choose to leave the Moosejaw Rewards program at any time by logging in and clicking on the “Opt out Rewards Program” link within the My Account Summary page, Email, calling 877-MOOSEJAW (877-666-7352) or in-store with help from our employees. If you leave the rewards program, any unused MJ$ will be voided upon completion of your request.
Earning MJ$:
All items we sell are eligible with the exception of gift cards or other items specifically noted. Full-priced items earn 10% back while discounted items earn 2.5%. "Discounted items" includes items on sale or discounted via coupon code or use of MJ$. You do not earn MJ$ for shipping or tax charges, only from the item value. MJ$ expire two years after earning and are redeemed on a first-in, first out basis (in other words, we always use your oldest MJ$ that are closest to expiration).
Checking & Redeeming MJ$:
On Moosejaw.com, just sign-in on any page to see your available balance. Once signed in, you will see your available MJ$ and maximum that can be redeemed in the payment section of the checkout process. In stores, provide the email address attached to your account to learn your balance and apply to your purchase. We will also send you a monthly email that details your balance and other account activity. This is a transactional email that you will receive even if you are not subscribed to our marketing emails.
Bonus Rewards Promotions:
Every so often, we'll have special offers where you can earn bonus MJ$, like an additional 10%, 20% or 40% back. So if we are running a 50% back special offer, and you buy a regular-priced item for $100.00, you will receive MJ$10.00 in base points, and a bonus of MJ$40. These special offers may have a cap on how many bonus MJ$ you earn during the promotion, but you will always earn the base Reward Dollars. Make sure to check us out on our social channels for other ways to win some extra MJ$!
MJ$ on Gift Cards:
You don't get earn MJ$ when you buy a gift card, but you do get MJ$ when you spend a gift card. Sorry gift givers. You're welcome gift receivers.
Product Returns and MJ$:
If you return an item, we deduct the MJ$ earned on that item from your balance. If you used the MJ$ and your balance is less than deduction, then your refund is reduced by the difference.
Program Abuse:
The intent of the program is to provide our loyal customers with a way to buy great gear for less. Moosejaw reserves the right to remove any user from the program and zero out their MJ$ balance if Moosejaw determines that the user is abusing the program by buying for resale, attempting to game the program or any other reason at Moosejaw's sole discretion.

Great for big headsI have a big head and have a really hard time finding hats that fit well. So I own a few Sun Runner Caps and they last me for years despite constant use. I use them for running, sailing, hiking, backpacking and cross-country skiing and I've found it ideal for all of those (sometimes without the "cape" if I have other sun protection such as a hood).

Can't wear any other hat for runningThe California sun is no joke, and this hat is a lifesaver! I used to sweat through all my running caps, but this OR cap wicks away sweat. I was worried that the cap would feel too hot, but I've had no issues on my long runs. Will definitely be purchasing more colors.

FRUSTRATED & DISAPPOINTEDIn my opinion, the Sun Runner Cap is an excellent concept but has some serious design flaws; the cord should be adjustable so the user can cover more of the lower half of their face if desired because every person's face has different dimensions even among users all wearing the same size hat. The cape itself should basically have a longer & wider circumference. All seams should be heavily reinforced. A removable decent sweatband would be a plus too. PLEASE, no Velcro. The Velcro closure on the back of the Sun Runner Cap got stuck, again, onto the gray fine soft netting vent that is on both sides. I am NOT reporting this new aggravation to OR; I give up. OR already gave me a partial refund for other damage. Very unhappy at this point. Wish I had returned everything instead of trying to make repairs. When the Velcro closure is adjusted to fit a person's head comfortably, exposed Velcro easily snares the netting, pulling fabric threads loose. The initial damage was that the thin black sweatband strip inside of the cap was separated and loose with a ton of threads sticking out everywhere due to shoddy sewing along the seam under the sweatband. I decided to sew it with hand stitches, took me forever. The front part of the cape does not cover my lower face very well because the string cord does not adjust after where it stops at the bottom of the cape; the cord closure should be adjustable to go up higher, as people's faces vary greatly in shape & size. The cap itself is mostly recycled nylon and the shell 100% polyester although an OR rep had simply told me the cap was nylon. Hand sewn stitches to make repairs was more time-consuming and difficult than anticipated. I then purchased an additional Removable Cape hoping to obtain more coverage and, it arrived with a tear along the bottom seam! Turned out that I actually had to sew the entire seam, not just the torn area, and it was quite difficult to do well making visible stitches with frayed, thin fabric.

I found the hat to more than match my expectationThe hat appears to be well made, It should shield my face, ears and neck against the desert sun.. It has a cord to prevent loss from the wind or water a huge plus for me I will be using the hat initially on a seven-day rafting trip into the Grand Canyon

Hey Charlie,
The Large size of this hat has a velcro strap and the head circumference measures approx 19" - 25". You should be able to adjust it just fine to fit your head!

The Outdoor Research Sun Runner Cap is listed at UPF 50+, not 30. Please keep in mind that the side mesh will not be UPF protected. But, when the cape is worn, it will be.

Does it cover your nose from the sun?

Thanks for the question! The brim is long enough to cover your nose, however you do have to factor in the direction of the sun and also the length of your nose. If you cinch the chin-cord of the cape, that will cover your neck and will create additional shade around your face. I would still use sunscreen for protection. Hope this helps a little!

Female with 21.5" head measurement, would a medium be too big? Also, is there an velcro strap or way to adjust tighter or looser?

Thank you for reaching out. After taking a look, we're showing that the Small accommodates a head circumference of 21.5-22in, which would be perfect for you! This cap is able to be adjusted in the back similarly to a baseball cap, and the sun skirt is able to be removed if necessary. Hopefully this helps!
