Rated 5 out of 5 by from OR whirlwind hoody. Finally, the lightweight Windshell perfected. Had a couple of similar items. OR have just about perfected it with the addition of a Halo drawcord on the hood. As before lightweight to wear over a baselayer on cool summer mornings. Or my preference for wearing on a hot (well hot for me 80f). Good sun protection and excellent moisture wicking properties. Improvements? A 2 way zip for more ventilation options. And looks excellent in Bengal orange.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Hoodie This was much cheaper than the Patagonia R1 or capilene hoodie and I performed as well or better. Perfect in the Rockies while handling wind, rain, and the brutal sun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't take it off! What a jacket! I can't take this thing off anymore. I wear it to work and on weekends in the back woods. This jacket is also very useful while on a canoe trip. It has strong water repellent qualities, extremely light and packable, but the most important, bugs can't bite through the jacket it seems. Pair it up with a hat, the hood sits perfectly on top of the brim and you are flying!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect weight for outings with my crazy, aerobic friends I have a regular group of friends that charge up mountains on weeknights for exercise - any weather, any season. T-shirt plus shorts in December, in the dark while it's sleeting, arrive at the summit steaming - yes. So aerobic performance is high on my list and I'm looking forward to testing this superlight softshell :-). I've already worn it in light rain and water beads up and falls off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent multiuse top An excellent all-round top when it's a little cooler. Used it for running and hiking when the temperatures below 10C. Got a monster canoe trip this weekend so going to try it out if the temperature drops. Very light and breathable while providing some wind and shower proofing. Much less sweaty than wearing a shell jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth trying Light weight, fits in any pockets in my backpack or day use packs. Dries quick and high visible. I don't recommend this product for longer back packing trips, no ventilation in under armpits or no side pockets to cover the hands in cold wind. Highly recommend for rock climbing, running in any conditions, mountain or trail biking. Hope the OR will fix this issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lightweight Running Jacket When I run in the cooler months I generally layer, but want to keep everything breathable and quick drying. I bought this to have a backup for a Nike Dri Fit top that provided some breathable insulation with cuffs that cover your fingers when you're cold. I like OR and so I thought I would get the Whirlwind Hoody to try for this purpose (I think the Ferrosi is too heavy and bulky for running). The Whirlwind Hoody is a great lightweight, breathable jacket with sleeves to cover your hands when they're cold, but you don't want to wear gloves. The hood is an added benefit that doesn't get in the way. I would use this for cooler Spring and Autumn months, but don't think it's enough for winter unless you have a good layering system. If you place your smart phone just right as far right as it will go in the pocket, it doesn't get in the way too much when you're running at a steady pace on smooth terrain. Outside of those conditions, you probably need to strap it down somewhere. It would be nice if there was a small headphone hole, but I guess wired headphones are becoming dated. Other than running and biking in cooler months, I don't know if I'd wear this for anything else. In warmer months I'd pick an Echo and when it's around freezing I would pick the Transition Hoodie with a lightweight long-sleeved shirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go-to hoodie I wear this while running, hiking and biking. If it's above-freezing, as soon as you get moving, you stay warm as your own body heat but not your sweat are trapped in. This is very comfortable and does not constrain movement.
