Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket Great jacket, used for a hike in New Hampshire during March. Very durable, lightweight, and extremely reliable to maintain optimal body temperature. This jacket does everything it says it can.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Jacket for its function, but has its flaws Its a great jacket that definitely serves its purpose in being breathable and being able to regulate temperature wether you are moving and needing to get rid off excess heat or retaining warmth when you aren't moving. I also wore the jacket in moderate rain conditions which tested the jacket's water resistance. The jacket being a synthetic retained its warmth and resisted the rain pretty well, but did eventually start to soak through. Still not bad for such a versatile jacket. The jacket is also not the lightest and is probably the heaviest among its competitors in the category of breathable mid layers. It does succeed in its intended purpose of being warm and very breathable, but if you are running or doing something very intense, you will heat up and may have to end up taking the jacket off or unzipping it. The issues I had with my two Uberlayer jackets were the detailing around the zippers peeling off on one jacket and the cinch on the hood breaking on my other jacket and this is all within a week of having them. I don't know if I got unlucky with having two Uberlayer jackets breaking down so quickly but just be aware of the durability issues. I hope OR fixes these issues on the next season redesign and update.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome synthetic jacket This jacket is great, it's light weight. I initially thought it wouldn't keep me warm enough, but it has delivered. Although, I'm not sure I would wear it if it was under 15. My only complaint is the two way zipper, I don't care for it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great workhorse jacket for shoulder seasons I have now used this product ski touring, rock climbing, and on a canyon backpacking trip. The jacket seems sturdy so far, as I haven't managed to poke a hole in the face fabric yet. It helps retain a lot of warmth if you are active, but should be paired with a fleece, puffy vest, or other layers if it gets much colder than 35-40 F. The fit is snug, fitting under bigger layers, harness, or large pack (I am 5'10" 155lbs). Material stretches easily while climbing, scrambling, or skiing. I usually kept this jacket on all day, or only took it off during the heat of the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the belay zip - and so warm! I love this jacket! I use the belay zip all the time and love that this keeps me plenty warm at belay stations and in town. I am super bummed that this is no longer available, but so glad I got one while I could!

How does the Uberlayer Hooded Jacket differ from Ferrosi Hoody?

Asked by: Sean
Thanks for the question! The main difference is that the Ferrosi is just a softshell, while the Uberlayer is an insulated softshell with Polartec Alpha insulation. Both are water-resistant, while the Uberlayer is also windproof. They both offer the same amount of breath-ability and have a Regular fit. The Ferrosi will be more abrasion-resistant, but the Uberlayer offers helmet compatibility. I would say the Ferrosi was designed more for climbing & day hiking, while the Uberlayer is more for casual winter use & skiing. It really comes down to the features you are looking for and the conditions you will be in. Hope this helps a little!
