Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great "hardshell"! Needed a light "hardshell" for use during SAR missions in the Colorado Rockys. I am not a big fan of Goretex since I tend to run pretty hot when moving. I saw the OR AscentShell and was interested. When I saw the Interstellar with the AscentShell and stretch I gave it a shot. I am very happy I did! Fiit: it's trim so I sized up. I'm a medium in all of OR stuff so the large allows me to get baselayer and easily a midlayer under the Interstellar no problem. I found sleeve length and back length good. Back stays tucked under climbing harness without any issues. (I have a shortish torso) The hood fit over my climbing helmet fine. Performance: Exactly what I wanted! Last mission we experienced light rain, heavy rain, sleet, hail. I put on a Ferossi hoping the weather would quickly pass over as we ascended the mountain. Nope! Got soaked and once we were on the ridge we were exposed to winds too. So, soaked and wind blown I decided to put on the Interstellar and was amazed that I didn't feel anymore wind which was great because the fabric is airpermeable and Istarted to dry from the inside out while we continued to climb. The fabric works very well. We were moving slow due to all the patches of piled up hail, but we were still climbing. We also had a good 45 min(?) of hanging out on a ledge waiting for our teamates to lower the injured climber down to us. So I did dry out, partially while climbing and the rest while static. I can't tell exactly how long it took to dry my baselayer and Ferossi, time gets lost during these things but I can say I was basically dry except for my back. I was wearing a decent sized pack and my back always sweats with a pack on no matter what. Durablity so far is good. Had to flatten out on the rocks to avoid rockfall quite a few times without any damage to the face fabric. Very pleased with the performance. I can say that I won't wait so long to put it on next time. I was always against hardshells, but no more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light but tough I bought this jacket based on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. It's about half the weight of my previous rain jacket and just as waterproof. Excited to test it out in some wet conditions soon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't be happier It arrived in the middle of the worst heat wave this area has ever had. Rain was comming daily but only driving up humidity. This Hard shell was perfect add to my gear. It shrugged off the dawn pours and didn't over heat me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The breathability benchmark. When I finally went to buy an OR Realm, it was no longer available in the colors or sizes I wanted. A little time passed, and then came the Interstellar. It cranked the lightweight AscentShell formula right up to maximum. It's a very dialed jacked, and it gets all the details right. The pockets are mesh-backed so you can open them to vent. The zipper is two-toned which looks great in person. The chest pocket interior has another little pocket inside so things don't fall out AND a little key lanyard. It's a soft and supple material compared to the usual shell, and the breathability is off the charts. There are only two downsides I have been able to find so far. 1: the cuff adjuster tabs do not have velcro to the very end of the tab. So when you lock down your cuffs you have these little ends that stick out and catch on stuff. And 2: the hood side adjusters are small and fiddly standard cord locks. Cohaesive cord locks have really changed the game for easy of use. If the jacket had velcro all the way to the end of the cuff adjuster tabs, and Cohaesive cord locks on the hood, It would be a strong contender for greatest jacket. As it sits now, it is merely insanely great (which is not too bad!).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This shell is out of this world This is what a shell should be. This shell is super lightweight, packs down well, and is versatile. Excellent waterproofing, is durable, and the vents work well. Highly recommend.
