Opting-in to Moosejaw Rewards:
All users must accept these terms and conditions and create an account with Moosejaw to opt-in to the program and earn, accrue, retain and redeem Moosejaw Reward Dollars (MJ$). The program is FREE to join and membership is ongoing until or unless the user requests to be removed or is removed due to abuse of the program. Users can opt-in to the program while checking out on Moosejaw.com or at one of our stores or at any time within 30 days of purchase to accrue the MJ$ earned on that purchase. Once opted-in to the program, MJ$ will earn and accrue for redemption as described below until the MJ$ expire or the user leaves the program.
All information collected and used to facilitate the Moosejaw Rewards program is directly related to the program's ability to provide value to the customer. A customer opting-in to the Moosejaw Rewards program is a separate action from establishing a user profile as a result of making a purchase.
The program opt-in requirement was added on August 6th, 2019. Existing program members prior to that date must still formally opt-in and accept the terms and conditions to continue to retain, earn and redeem MJ$. Pre-existing program members that fail to opt-in prior to June 28, 2020 will be removed from the program, and any unused MJ$ will be voided. We really, really don't want to that to happen, so please opt-in or we'll feel terrible.

On Moosejaw.com, just sign-in on any page to see your available balance. Once signed in, you will see your available MJ$ and maximum that can be redeemed in the payment section of the checkout process. So if we are running a 50% back special offer, and you buy a regular-priced item for $100.00, you will receive MJ$10.00 in base points, and a bonus of MJ$40. These special offers may have a cap on how many bonus MJ$ you earn during the promotion, but you will always earn the base Reward Dollars. Make sure to check us out on our social channels for other ways to win some extra MJ$!

Light, breathable, and dry.An absolute steal if you grab it during the end of season sale. We've been blessed with a wet winter in CA, so I've had ample opportunity to test this jacket and it's performed admirably. With Outdoor Research, I don't feel like I'm paying for the brand rather than the quality. I'm 5'10" and 150 lbs. and the small perfectly fits a trim fleece and down jacket with enough room to move. I'm the only one at the office with a dry torso.

Weird sizingThis jacket is light and has a bunch of pockets which are nice. I like the hood fit with and without a helmet. Like other reviewers, I have also experienced fraying of the face fabric around the cuffs and other areas after not too much use. My biggest gripe though is the fit of the arms. I'm 5'10", 165lbs, broad shoulders, athletic build, and have long arms. I ordered a Large originally. It was comically large. I swapped for a medium, and it is somewhat trim fitting. I can't layer much underneath (sweatshirt thickness max.) because there is not enough room around the elbows, and I can't bend my arms to reach my collarbone. My arms are not particularly large in diameter. The medium also does not reach my wrists with my arms raised straight at shoulder level. Kind of a bummer with gloves.

Perfect for ski touringI finally got to take this jacket ski touring and I love it. It checks all of the boxes. I'm 5'8" 150. I have tons of OR jackets. I'm usually a medium but with my hard shells, that doesn't leave room for layering / throwing it on over a puffy on cold days. This jacket fits bigger than most so I can easily put it on over my ski puffy or a hoody mid-layer, but it doesn't feel too baggy. Other things that are great: - It's super light and packs small. This was key for me since the hardshell is often in the pack. - The hood is big enough to go over my helmet - It has glove stash pockets - It has the foam inserts so it stays put under a harness (haven't verified how well it works yet) - Zips up from the bottom too for belaying Only 1 day in it but so far, it's exactly what I've been looking for for touring and ski mountaineering. I also think it will be good for winter alpine climbing.

Nice fabric with unknown performance and odd pocketsI generally like OR and Ascentshell from previous jackets and have been looking for something like the Helium Ascentshell for ages. It ticks many boxes in being light, functional and versatile but also leaves you frustrated in that it could be so much better with a few minor changes. Really makes me wonder if they have real users test or design these jackets. Fit of this jacket is good. I'm 6" 180lbs 40" chest average build and arm length and Medium fits well. Has room for layers (fleece + light down/puffy) underneath but can be worn without as well. It has a long hem which is good for staying under pack hipbelt/climbing harness with foam pieces in the hem. I got yellow color which is nice to be visible on the mountain with bright color and it looks good. Unfortunately, this color/material attracts dirt easily and isn't easy to clean. I've only worn it for 1 month on 8000m mountaineering trip where the majority of the time is on glacier/snow and the cuffs are dirty looking and can't get them clean. Also the cuffs have started to fray so not confident about how long the jacket will last. Material isn't crinkly/noisy and soft/light so moves well. I feel like this Pertex Ascentshell doesn't breathe as well as standard Ascentshell and might not be as durable, but this is just based on feeling and not any standardized testing. It's too bad that OR didn't share a comparison of the performance between Pertex Ascentshell vs Ascentshell to see which is more breathable and waterproof based on their testing. The pockets are a disappointment. They advertise: High Hand Pockets Placed Above Hip Belt and Harness & Dual Internal Mesh Stash Pockets. But the hand pockets are directly underneath hip belts and harness. Napolean style large chest pockets would be much more functional and wouldn't interfere with harness. The external chest pocket is very small and barely fits a small phone. The mesh stash pockets are too narrow for skins.

Waterproof, Windproof, Warm, and Extremely ComfortableWhile I haven't brought this jacket on a ski trip yet it has kept me warm, dry, and comfortable during the cold, wet San Francisco summer while on the bay, wandering the hills, and walking around the city.

I hate to say it, but a quiver of one jacket? This jacket is rad, its super light-weight and yet still heavy on the features! It means I don't need to decide between going fast and light, or having the creature comforts I enjoy out of a hard-shell. A huge standout is the longer hemline, that stays below harnesses and hip-belts really well, especially with the additional foam balls sewn into the hemline to keep it from riding up underneath the aforementioned.

love itI've used this product on cooler rainy days and paired it with a MH Ghost whisperer/2. the combination of the water and windproof properties as well as keeping the right amount of heat under the jacket was perfect. I am a big fan of this jacket

Positive ImpressionsOverall, great jacket. When sitting still or lightly active, the jacket breathes really well. On a short hike uphill in windy conditions on a portion of the CDT I found the jacket much more breathable than the average rain jacket, but it still got a bit damp inside after a mile of mild uphill elevation gain. I can't help but feel like the lack of pit zips on this jacket was an oversight, not a testament to breathability. The HAS is really light weight. It feels surprisingly durable to the touch despite the light weight and thin fabric feel. I'll have to see how it stands up over time. I'm cautiously optimistic in that regard. It does have slightly paper-y fabric quality, but it didn't bother me when I was wearing it. For an emergency stash jacket in an alpine environment I think this is a great pick. Not sure I'd choose to hike/climb on a routine basis while actually wearing the jacket, but I would feel very confident wearing in a pop up squall or snow storm. In fact I would say I'd likely rather have this tucked away than carry the weight of a full Gortex Pro shell "just in case". If I knew I was going to be in bad weather for several days, I'd likely still opt for a full Pro shell. I overall feel like this is a step up from the Foray II jacket which I also own. I would be more willing to take the $$ Foray out on a long distance hike where I might have to sacrifice the jacket to a tear from a random tree branch or rock than a $$$ HAS, however. In fairness I have scraped the HAS up against a branch or two and it seems to have come out unscathed so far.
